Saw it and loved it, I still don't know how I managed to not know about this show for the past few years, but I'm damn glad you recommended it to me. I'm a little sad Walter doesn't look like Gordon Freeman anymore, but his new look suits him.

Ive never seen 1 episode but people talk about it all the time.
I'm surprised you haven't, it'd be right up your alley.

You know, you could still just watch it online. I went through seasons 1-3 on Netflix too, but it was pretty easy to find season 4 online for free. I do that with most shows I can't find on Netflix.

Anyway, yes, I'm a HUGE fan of the show. It's one of my top three favorite shows, along with The Walking Dead and Weeds. I have a bunch of friends who love it too, so we all got together for the beginning of season 5 on Sunday.

(Spoilers start here for anyone who hasn't started season 5 yet.)

I was really surprised they decided to reveal everything about Walt's plan to poison Brock. I mean, it wasn't a huge deal when we saw him cleaning up all that stuff from making the poison (although, wouldn't Jesse have seen that stuff near the end of season 4 when he came to Walt's house with that gun?), but I didn't expect Walt and Saul to be discussing the ricin cigarette that Huell lifted off Jesse at all. I think it would have been better if they left a little bit of mystery to it even though everyone practically knows what happened. Also, I absolutely loved that sequence in the beginning when Walt's at the diner with his hair and a larger beard. I think one of two things will happen with that. The first possibility is that it'll be like the beginning sequences seen in season 2 where they showed some of the aftermath of the plane crash, only it was shrouded in mystery because we didn't know what had happened yet. So I think they might be showing bits and pieces of Walt on the run (or whatever he's doing) with his new identity in the beginning of some or all of season 5's episodes, and then we'll find out what the hell's going on once the story catches up to that part at the end of season 5. Either that, or they're only doing an opening sequence like that for this first episode, and again, we'll have to wait until the end of season 5 to understand it.

Oh, and one more thing: I'll just leave this here...

Spoilers. Highlight to see.
Yeah. That part at Denny's was definitely another flash-forward. The only thing we don't know is whether he's running from something, or to it. It could go either way. You may remember in the pilot when he's standing in the middle of the road waiting for sirens with a pistol, it turns out that the sirens are coming from fire trucks. If he's running from something, it could either be Hank or Jesse/Mike.

Hank: obvious enough. He's been after Walt since day one. Now that he has the DEA believing in him, he may have the man power to find out Heisenberg's identity. The loophole with this outcome, though, is that Jesse was absent. If this is the case, Jesse is either dead, arrested, or running the show without him.

If Jesse's following him, it could be because he finds out what happened with Brock and the ricin. He's already shown that he's willing to kill Walt over that (he almost did). The both of them are going to NEED Mike's help to get their operation started. Mike hates Walt, Jesse and Mike trust each other. It's possible that the two of them turned on him. Now, the issue with this is that Walt somehow arranged to have a guy drop off a duffle bag incognito. It sounds like something Mike could have arranged, so Mike is probably still on his side at this point.

Let me also say that this could be a scene from the NEXT season. Season 6. This was going to be the end of Breaking Bad, but they split it into 2 seasons. If either of the two above scenarios come true, there may not be a full season of content left in the show. For this reason, I'm leaning more towards Walt is going somewhere to get someone or the scene is showing something much further down the road. After all, he coughed in the bathroom which could mean his cancer is coming back. Either way, Walt has to die at the end of the show and Hank has been a sleeping threat the entire time. That can't play out until the end of the show regardless, which means Walt has to stay successful for at least this season. If I'm wrong and Hank is on his trail and it's happening in season 5, then Walt is going to kill him.

Wait wait, I thought Season 5 was the final season? I haven't seen anything on a season 6.

Spoilers: I'm leaning more towards him running from something (In this case.. Hank/DEA, Jesse, and Mike, but he might be going for something at the same time, perhaps the original goal for his family yet fail trying). I don't think Jesse is dead but I do believe he's after him for the poisoning of Brock. I can't think of any other logical reason for why Jesse would want to kill Walter at this point after what they've been through. But Walter still makes mistakes and I think Jesse eventually finds out someway with Mike's help. When something like that is realized, there is no more room for forgiveness regardless that Brock is safe and of what good Walter wants to do for his family.. because from Season 5's premiere.. he's not Walter White anymore. He's full blown Heisenberg.

Perhaps the dufflebag was help from Saul (he does have seemingly endless connections). If Jesse & Mike are after him, he's gonna need some pretty good protection. But I agree, in the end.. I really don't see Walter getting out of this thing alive or a free man.

The evidence does point more toward Walt running from something in that flashforward. He changed his name, after all. As I watched that part of the show, and as he handed his ID to the waitress, I said out loud, "It's not going to say Walter White." Then she called him by a different name as he left. I'm not sure the gun is just for protection though. I mean, it could be, but remember when he was afraid of being killed by Gus? He was just looking for a pistol. That's all he'd need for protection. Something tells me that that big ass gun is for something more than that. And I'm definitely putting my money on Saul getting it for him. I mean, I've speculated before the start of the season that there's going to be a Walt and Saul versus Mike and Jesse dynamic, and that fits perfectly with Saul getting him that gun. Think about it, they're definitely not leaving any stone unturned. Jesse will find out that Walt poisoned Brock, Hank will find out that Walt is Heisenberg, and Walt will have to confront these two about each situation. My theory now is that Walt is on the run from Jesse and Mike, because of the incidents with Brock and Gus respectively, and that Saul is helping him. He may or may not also be running from Hank and maybe the rest of the DEA. That part is very unclear because it's incredibly hard to predict how Hank would react to finding out that Walt is Heisenberg, but as I said before, he will find out. However, I think because of that massive gun, Walt has some other secondary objective aside from running and staying alive. The story is never simple enough to just have Walt running from everyone in Albuquerque. We'll just have to wait and find out what that other objective might be.

And I'm relatively certain they decided to split season 5 into two smaller seasons, though I'm still not entirely sure if they're just going to be different parts of season 5 or if they'll technically be different seasons. I've heard rumors of both.

Spoilerific

I don't think the hookup was Saul because Saul said that Mike was his hookup for everything. I forget exactly when it happened, but I'm 99% sure it was while Gus was after Walt. I don't think Jesse will ever find out about the plant. Like the time that Walt watched Jane choke on her own vomit, I think it was just meant to show just how far down the rabbit hole he's gone. You all may recall someone watching Walt and Jesse at the top of the parking garage at the end of season 4. I'm 99% sure that whoever it was plays an integral role in Walt needing to go on the lamb or go anywhere with an assault rifle.
