Bringing back the old school

My wife just bought me a Retro Duo console, for those that dont know what a Retro Duo is its an SNES/NES console. So i was rather excited to be able to play some old school games. ive been playing emus and roms for years but its not quite the same as the original experience. anyway, i made my way down to this store, some may know it, 3D Games. well, no offense to anyone but that store is a huge waste of time.

I browsed the limited selection of their SNES titles and found one of the all time greats, Chrono Trigger. I came real close to purchasing it until the clerk told me how much it was.. 59.99 for a scratched up, peeled off lable, and poor condition cartridge. needless to say i did not purchase the overpriced game, but i did happen to find the PSOne version at frys for 14.99. The PSOne version even has Anime cutscenes from the orginal artist.

Thats whats up!

Re: Bringing back the old school

Lol, good luck selling anything with that price setting strategy.

Re: Bringing back the old school

It's like amazing how the old school consoles are so much and you can sell your gamecube for a ****ing penny

i tried to trade in like 6 SNES and a few NES games to the same store, and they offered me 12 dollars total. they charged $25+ each title, and yet only give you about .50 to a dollar for trade ins. its really lame.

this highly overpriced store called 3D Games, i would only suggest shopping there if your really hard up for something they have. otherwise go through the internet, it will save you alot of money.

Re: Bringing back the old school

Hellz yea man! those Duo systems are hard as bigfoot to find, my girlfriend found me a SNES a few christmasses ago! Ahh the good ole days of gaming i love it but trying to buy a game MY GOD it can get outragouse i remember going through those second hand stores (3d games, Game swap, etc) and they want $40 dollars for a game that came out 14 years ago!! yet i can buy a new game today and sell it back in 6 months for only a third of original price?! whut is going on? the video game retail market is confusing...lucky for us this MODDER dude we knew hooked up my old Xbox to include thousands of games for the SNES, NES, N64, Sega Genisis, and Game gear ( for some reason)!

Re: Bringing back the old school

well, the only reason i can think of as why the prices are so high is because its in all regards a monopoly. these stores carry hard to find games such as SNES, NES, genesis, dreamcast, etc., etc. Where as the only other place to find these games are pawn shops if your lucky and the internet.

If i can find NES, SNES, Genesis, and N64 controllers that will work with my pc, then ill just stick to good ol' emus and roms. the only reason i try to stick with the originals is the experience you get with the game and gameplay as a whole.

Working with a keyboard or PS2 knockoff controller for an SNES game just doesnt cut it.
