Cats suck. There are a hand full of them that actually enjoy the company of people, but to the rest, we're only good for feeding them. Dogs can actually be trained to do things, and they always enjoy the company of humans (with the exception of mistreated and abused dogs). And Lionhead is not going to put in anything like a cat of any kind, a bird, a monkey, an elephant, or a snake, and nor should they.
Also, the idea of having a horse just became more plausible to me today while I was playing Fable 2. On my most recent game, I married an aristocrat, and when I came back from the spire, I spent some time with her and my newly grown up son. During my time with them, my son said (I'm paraphrasing), "I'm tired of walking, can we get a horse?" I thought it was a nice find, and it means that getting a horse in Albion is completely possible.
