Chess game Sunset house

Hi. I'm playing chess after entering Sunset house. Problem is, the chess pieces won't move.

Dumb question but have you tried reloading the game or a previous save file? The chess thing can be glitchy, if I recall. Another possibility is seeing if you can get someone to co-op with you for this part - that can sometimes fix the issue.
