Childhood Heroes

who did you idolize when you were growing up (aside from a parental figure)?
if you can recall, what about them made you admire them so?

personally, i worshiped michael jordan as a kid. sure, basketball isn't the biggest sport on the international stage, but hear me out. when he entered the NBA, he took the standards of everything and threw them out the window. it was almost like watching him play against a high school team.
not to mention his jumping ability was spectacular to see. even if you aren't american, you should be able to enjoy the first basketball in the olympics with the dream team (featuring him as a rookie). bottom line is, not many sports have a player that can be declared the best of all time without a bunch of bickering among the fans, but in his case the decision was damn near unanimous.

don't mind the music. i don't like kanye west either, it's the footage that counts.

inb4 basketball sucks, the NBA is too commercial, etc. i grew up in a state where the only team was an NBA team, so i'm kind of a fan for life.

so anyway, enough of me idolizing. who did you look up to?

Re: Childhood Heroes

Tough one... I can't remember ever really having one.

Re: Childhood Heroes

Hmmm... still being a 'child', I suppose I'll choose someone from when I was very young... in which case, Fireman Sam :D

Re: Childhood Heroes

I didn't have many mainstream idols, I'm too cool for that. But there was one guy that I was introduced to through my friends older brother that was like a god to me growing up. Taught me the ways of life as I see them now.
