Chronicals of Narnia: the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe

Has anyone read the book and/or seen the movie?

Re: Chronicals of Narnia: the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe

Ive seen the movie, im to lazy to read books these days.

Re: Chronicals of Narnia: the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe

Lol. So, what's your favorite part of the movie? Mine's just before the battle. I mean, when the tension is building up. It makes me wanna fight by Peter's side!

Re: Chronicals of Narnia: the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe

Sadly I've only watched the movie. I am all for good ol' old school reading. Movies based on books tend to leave out alot of details that the books got. LotR movies were a good example of this, they left out a whole lot indeed!

The battles were pretty good, took me by surprise for a family movie.

Yeah but realistically the movies would have to be 7hrs long each to fit all the details in etc and they are long enough already

Yeah, I think that if a book is just like totally awesome, leaving out detail is desicrating (I hope I spelled that right; and used it in its proper text) the book and insulting the author. There's some detail that just has to be there.

Re: Chronicals of Narnia: the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe

I did like the film but they embellished a lot - which took the shine off it for me as I grew up reading the Chronicles (all 7) and when you know a book like that you kinda get attached to it and have your own idea of how it should have been. I think the sacrificial scene was good - but the part where Aslan comes back to life could have been done a lot better. There were a lot of incidents in the film that did not happen whatsoever in the book and and plenty that they could have put in that did exist and would have been better. I did like how they padded out the battle scenes which didn't have such a big part to play in the book - but like I said, the bits they made up spoilt it for me.

What would have been even better is if they had done the whole thing in chronological order - showing the Professor as a little boy and how he helped Narnia come into being...

Re: Chronicals of Narnia: the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe

Sorry..but I think all movies based off books..should NOT be exactly like the books..that's why they're..BASED off it..like the harry potter movies..they're movies..not the books..Interview with a vampire, Queen of the Damned, Lord of the Rings..all good books AND good movies.
*shrug* that's my opinion. I don't know why people get so worked up all the time "AHH! THAT MOVIE BUTCHERED THE BOOK!"...well then..read the book..AND enjoy the movie..they are two differen't things..made by two differen't people.....

see, I get mad about that sometimes but it's when move makers promise that they will be entirely true to the original and then go inventing things and removing things...
it's not that the movie is terrible just because it didn't follow the book, it's that the people who made the promise are no good liars that I wont give my money to.

well then those people should get blown up.

but not the ones who don't promise anything. :D

I guess there will always be a certain expectation when someone makes a film based on a book - particularly a classic. I'm a book-lover first and foremost so I'll always be more critical of a film based on a book I've read first. Matter of opinion, I guess.

What about books based off movies :D:w00t:

Re: Chronicals of Narnia: the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe

Huh? Books based off movies? Sounds like a diabolical idea - I know you get spin off books from cartoons like Disney or Dreamworks films but I don't believe I've ever read a book taken from a major movie...

Aren't those like those Warcraft novels? They do not tell the tale of the happenings in Warcraft games, but side stories based in the world of the Warcraft universe.

haha they have those too, but I was thinking about the ones that turn actual episodes and movies into books... or try to... half the show is filler as it is, imagine what happens when you try to stretch it out over 300 pages... it's rather unpleasant
