Lol, wow a nice long conversation after i leave huh? No I meant Books based off movies. I know there are some, I just can't think of any more examples. But hexadecimal's right. They aren't gems.

Plus I was just trying to be funny. :)

All the Star Wars movies. But in the books, there's a lto of detail added, so it's all cool. You get in more depth of Anakin's feelings and what he's going through.

I did like the film but they embellished a lot - which took the shine off it for me as I grew up reading the Chronicles (all 7) and when you know a book like that you kinda get attached to it and have your own idea of how it should have been. I think the sacrificial scene was good - but the part where Aslan comes back to life could have been done a lot better. There were a lot of incidents in the film that did not happen whatsoever in the book and and plenty that they could have put in that did exist and would have been better. I did like how they padded out the battle scenes which didn't have such a big part to play in the book - but like I said, the bits they made up spoilt it for me.

What would have been even better is if they had done the whole thing in chronological order - showing the Professor as a little boy and how he helped Narnia come into being...

Amen! I grew up on the Chronicles of Narnia, too (well, since 5th grade) and have read them many a time. In fact, I'm reading them again. What peeved me off the most was the fox. Beaver and the children never actually met him in the book. The White Witch found him and others having a party. Then, after questioning him about Aslan and such, she turned them into stone! Also, Mr. Tumnus and Edmund were never in her prison. Mr. Tumnus was made into stone before Edmund ever saw him. And what about the moustache (I hope I spelled that right) Edmund drew on the lion? To me, that wasn't really clear. And what about the lion? And what about the good giant?

The lion was supposed to be mistaken for Aslan - hence the moustache thing, but you're right it really wasn't made clear. The lion, when brought to life again by Aslan, was supposed to be all up himself coz he and Aslan were the only two lions but that's not really very interesting .

The good giant (Rumblebuffin, I believe) served really to open the gates of the Witches castle - not a whole lot else, really.

Sorry for boring everyone but I'm a stickler for these kinds of things .

Sorry..but I think all movies based off books..should NOT be exactly like the books..that's why they're..BASED off it..like the harry potter movies..they're movies..not the books..Interview with a vampire, Queen of the Damned, Lord of the Rings..all good books AND good movies.
*shrug* that's my opinion. I don't know why people get so worked up all the time "AHH! THAT MOVIE BUTCHERED THE BOOK!"...well then..read the book..AND enjoy the movie..they are two differen't things..made by two differen't people.....
I agree with your opinion. Movies and novels are to different types of art, one appealing to the actual senses (sight, sound) and the other appealing to the imagination. Descriptions have to be detailed in a novel so the reader can get a good mental picture of what is going on. Also if an author did not want a motion picture of his novel then all he would have to say is no. The art style of a motion picture will always change from the style of a novel, and writers accept this as a new appreciation for their work.
