Re: Custom City!

I know about Black and White, though I have not played the Creature Island part. True, it is an amazing game, but could you just imagine what the qualities of Black and White and Fable comined would be like. Please take into consideration that I am not suggesting a total change of the game into a real-time strategy or something, but Peter Molunex inspired me with his words: in many games you can go to the places you see, but can you neccesarily own them. He wants you to be able to own the places in Fable 2- rpgs were meant for absolute control and customization. In terms of having a city and the main quest, what if the city creation was only available after completion of the main quest? In a way, it could be another privelege of beating the game besides being all-powerful. This may sound unreal and made-up, but this idea came to me in a dream. I could see my Fable 1 character walking around the grounds of the city outskirts, a snowy section of town with smaller houses and iron gates enclosing the city in. And then I realized that I could customize aspects of the town, such as warfare and commerce and other details of my colony. It is only an idea I have in my mind in the sole purpose of contributing to Fable 2's inevitable greatness.

Re: Custom City!

Wow two thumbs up thats amazing...... wish I had dreams like that.

Re: Custom City!

Not anything uncommon really. Most of my dreams are beyond the definition of bizzare. I once had a dream that it was the end of the world and it was raining blue jello.

Re: Custom City!

That's normal........isn't it?

Re: Custom City!

God only knows what normal is when it comes to me. I have an overactive imagination, thus I am exploding with ideas.

Re: Custom City!

This thread is pointless talking about black and white in Fable 2 forums Close?

Actually they got to talking about dreams.

I don't think that's grounds for closing. Maybe getting back on topic.
but that's not my call.

I agree, its not grounds for a close as its about a Lionhead game and things that are in that game some people would like to see similar in Fable 2 thats all.

Re: Custom City!

age of empires anyone? not to burst your bubble but if you start making your own cities, adding buildings, walls, all that stuff, arent we leaning towards a spin off of AOE?
the basic idea is pretty cool, but im afraid it will turn into too much of a copycat

Re: Custom City!

What I intend to do with this idea, though I understand how you think it could turn into AOE-esque, is to create something unique apart from any type of city-building game (i.e. interaction with the citizens of your town to do certain things or authorize construction of buildings). The very very last thing I want to do is to make a copy of AOE. I would like it if you could keep the same Fable style and gameplay, but present the city building in a new way. Give me some ideas about what all I could do to make this concept unique.

Re: Custom City!

so maybe you could build a tavern, armor shop, weapons shop, general store, whatever you want, and pick the location and name and what type of followers(townspeople) you want. Maybe even the alignment of the entire town. That would be crazy. My perfect town would be a pure evil town in darkwood full of assassins and dark mages, where the shops only sell dark armor and weapons. And every time anyone visited that town, their alignment would go down. Sweetness

That's a little Black & white-ish

Re: Custom City!

In respect to the previous posts I'd like to say I wouldn't want much of those things in the game. The reason why is is that I think it would make for a "shorter" game. Yeah even when the story is done you can build things, BUT it would take a lot of space on the disk and would actually make the storyline/quests shorter. Get what I'm trying to say? If they put so much information in the game to where you can build whatever you want wherever you want I don't think it would make the actual game better. I would like it though. It would be great if we could buy the "extras" off of xbox live.

Just my two cents..

Re: Custom City!

yea, thats true...but maybe like you said we could buy them off of Live.

I was saying that the other day to someone. The more customization the less story/game play.

Re: Custom City!

I think it would be interesting though, to have a place to call your own, a way to impact Fable in a way never before seen in an rpg. In Fable I, it was awesome to be able to see your hero, starting out as a boy, slowly turn into a legend of Albion. It's that kind of thing that makes an rpg great. I like the suggestions everyone has come up with. Alignment will most definitely play into this possible feature.

Yeah, Customizing your own house would be cool, but not like..whole cities.

Re: Custom City!

Customizing houses would be interesting, but a whole city- imagine the possibilities! To reward you for completing the main quest (and subsequently limit you from straying too far from the storyline), you could get the chance to start your own city. Who knows how it could (I said could, not will) play in? Give me some ideas on how it could play into the game, because it needs some way to be transitioned into. It's not as if you can start out the game as a kid and go and start your own city, but I'd like some thoughts on how you get started.
