Dante Inferno

DanteConcept--article_image.jpg

Dante's Inferno is very loosely based on the first part of Dante's Divine Comedy. The player controls Dante, a veteran of the Third Crusade, who chases his beloved Beatrice and attempts to free her soul from Lucifer, who needs to wed a heaven-bound soul to break free of Hell and make another attempt to take over the Throne of God. As his pursuit takes him through the monstrous entities within the nine Circles of Hell to save Beatrice, Dante must face his own sins, his family's past and his war crimes.

I don't know about you guys but a game that directly takes me into hell to battle the 9 rings of hell to free my beloved seems and sounds like a game that would crash off the shelves as a #1 game somewhere. Even though I haven't played the game yet I've played it a bit at a friends and watched videos on you tube and if you like gore, religious lore(not the pushy kind the gruesome kind :)), and to play as a crusader with a giant scythe as a weapon this is your game.

Even talk of a movie.
Dante's Inferno has been optioned by Universal Pictures. The screenwriter for the film version remains unknown.

Film Roman, the Starz Entertainment unit behind Dead Space: Downfall will release an animated direct-to-DVD version of the story that is set to be released simultaneously with the video game.[12] The only known detail about the Dante's Inferno project is that separate anime studios are being tapped to create visuals of the nine levels of the Inferno. Starz Entertainment is looking to sell both animated films to international TV buyers at the MIP market.[13] The animation studios that participated in the making of Dante's Inferno in order are Film Roman, Manglobe, Dong Woo, JM Animation, and Production I.G. The released movie shows a difference in storyline and has been divided into four different styles.

So far the game as received favorable rating having been praised for its unique setting, art, and level design. Though criticizing have said that it is a little similar to the game God of War.

Some videos of the game play (Spoilers:)

Re: Dante Inferno

sounds like a pretty good plot. might av to keep my eyes peeled for more info +rep

Re: Dante Inferno

Thanks for the rep :) Defiantly seems like a good game, ill see if i can find some more info to add, also was going to edit this in but since I'm posting anyways ill go ahead and sneak this in as well.

Dante Inferno has two DLC Dark Forest and Trials of St Lucia.
Dark Forest will add a prologue level.

Trials of St Lucia will feature cooperative gameplay and a game-editor. Players will be able to share their created maps and levels with others. The new playable character in this DLC is St. Lucia, a Christian martyr described as Dante's Guardian Angel. Trials of St Lucia is planned to be released on April 29, 2010.
As you can see only one has been released yet but hopefully the wait for St. Lucia will be well worth it.

Gameplay is almost exacly like God of War. Attacks, evades, button mashing quicktime kills, all same controls. Hope you have the stomache for this game, even I find some parts rediculously (deliciously) over the top.

Re: Dante Inferno

It's definitely worth a purchase if you want a God of War fix on the Xbox 360, otherwise just wait for GoW3 if you're waiting on PS3.

I had fun with it, in some parts it reminded me of Castlevania SotN.

Re: Dante Inferno

I'm not a fan of PS3's but I played castlevania and loved those games! Do they still work for xbox 360?

Dunno, I don't have any of them to test it out. SotN is still sitting on XBLA though.

Re: Dante Inferno

Ill have to look into finding one of my old games later :)

On another note, no new news so far on this game besides what you read up there and I doubt anymore will see anymore till DLC comes out :D!
