Dark Void is the Next 2010 Delay Vicitim
Source
When John Deacon of Queen was writing "Another One Bites the Dust," I'm sure he'd never thought that the song would be associated with the games industry at any point. I mean, it was recorded in 1980 for starters and games weren't that prevelant then, but today, as Capcom's Dark Void joins the ranks of "delayed till 2010" games, there isn't a more appropriate song.
Following the delay announcement in Capcom's fiscal first-quarter results, Capcom's Senior Director of Communications, Chris Kramer, told Joystiq that the delay was "in order to get the game out of the crowded fall game season."
The original release date was listed as September 22nd, the same September 22nd that sees a certain bunch of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers landing in stores. As a result Kramer stated, "the move will be great for the game and for gamers: less competition in the market (curse you, Halo!), more time for polish."
Still, you have to question the logic of moving the game away from a fairly quiet September, towards a packed out 2010 Q1, full of titles like ... *takes deep breath*
Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2, Bad Company 2, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, Mafia 2, Bioshock 2, Bayonetta, Splinter Cell: Conviction ... and many more.
Surely, you'd rather go up against one big seller, rather than 5+ potential AAA titles? I know I would ... unless Capcom never got the memo? Hi Capcom, everything else is being delayed till 2010, did you not hear?
