Dating (no, not in that sense) A Fender Serial #?

Dating (no, not in that sense) A Fender Serial #?

Well, I'm thinking about buying a Fender Strat from my brother's friend, let's call him "Chris". Now, "Chris" comes from a really musical family, and he recently was given a guitar from his friend, Quentin. Now, I'm told that this strat has once belonged to Jimi Hendrix. Well, I don't really care about all of that, but I just want to buy it because, well, you guessed it, it's a genuine strat. So I asked him to give me a couple of pictures and the serial number, but I can't really decode the serial number. I'm pretty sure it's MIM though. (Made in Mexico.) Here's the serial: MS4225425. Now, in the picture, it is kind of messed up, due to a small ding, so the S can be anything. But I am 100% sure of the rest of the digits/letter(s). Well, I'm gonna go now, my thumbs are tired... +rep to whoever (or whom? I always get that mixed up.) helps me!

Are you sure there are 6 numbers after the 'MS4'? Because, unless I'm very mistaken, Mexican fenders have an M** + 5 digit serial.

Also, it depends on what the 'S' is: if it's an N, it was made before 2000, if it's a Z it was made after 2000.

Also, I'm pretty sure (again, I'm no expert on Fender) that Fender didn't produce Mexican Strats pre-1970 (which was when Jimi Hendrix died) so I doubt the guitar belonged to him.

Also, if you have access to the guitar, I recommend just going and playing it, you can find alot about a guitar, ie it's condition, etc. just by playing it for a bit.

as far as I can find, no strat serial number started with ms.....

I know, he said he couldn't quite make it out.

It'll either be a MN or MZ, most likely MZ, which means it'll be made in 2005, I think.
