Hangin' out in a corn field
I figured I could talk to you guys about this because you cant really judge me or make me feel insecure and upset about myself because .. well I don't see you in RL and it feels safe that way.

Im finally going to the doctor today, in about 1hour, after about 2 years of picking up the strength to finally go, Im going to the doctor because I know (well 90% sure) that I have depression, and maybe something else thats going on up in my head.

Reason why im telling you is because I feel like I need to share it, or get it off my chest somehow and this feels like the best first step for me.

Ill tell you how the doctors goes once im back.

Ciao

Doctor? Shouldn't you be seeing a psychiatrist?

I thought that too, but apparently its better to see a doctor first, because they know quite a bit about it still, and then you get a blood test and urine sample aswell.. And because I went to the doctors, ill be able to go to the psych person for free (Gets covered by some other company)..

TBH doctor will probably throw some medicine at you first, if you see if you perk up etc - close family has depression - on and off like, was on medication for a while before going to a clinic to talk to a psychiatrist.

I dunno how it is in other parts of the world but these days in the UK (unless your doctor sucks) they ask you what you would like to try first in helping deal with your stuff. It's all very much option-based and, presumably, keeps their own costs down if you opt for something less expensive as a first resort. They like to keep the treatment as much within the patient's control as possible but if you're completely stark staring mad then of course they'll probably do something different as a primary course of action.

Last time I saw the doctor he had to Google my symptoms. He. had. to. Google. my. symptoms.

Could have done that meself at home...

Well that's good :)

Stupid question given you're quite an active person and all, but how's your diet? Particularly protein and certain vitamins? Diet can have a major effect on mental health and if yours sucks a bit then a few minor modifications may make a big difference. But seeing as you seem to spend large chunks of your time hanging out of trees or falling off cliffs or whatever it is you do, your diet is unlikely to be much of an issue.

I've gone plenty of times and it's really nothing to be ashamed or worried about. Most people are screwy in one way or another and the only thing keeping them from seeing a mental health professional is some stupid pride. I don't know why everyone feels that only the real crazies should go to a psychiatrist because I run into tons of people, through dating and otherwise, who could use a session or two.

Even if meds aren't involved, it's good to be able to go somewhere and bitch about your life for a good hour. Really makes you feel better after having a captive audience.
