I own about 4 of them but didnt purchase the new one. Seems to be a trend with DBZ games in that they end up merely a framework of a game. The story is long enough to get a decent RPG layout for it and it ends up a rushed mess that only die hard DBZ fans would understand. The combat systems end up basic and repeated through characters with the variation of 1-3 moves per character with repeated animations. 4 battles some up a saga with 2-3 rushed cutscenes that dont really explain anything at all. Never seems to be any real thought into power levels and someone like Krillin could go toe to toe with Broly for example. I know this is to balance it but it could have had some more thought go into it to explain why someone so weak can defeat an opponent with a vastly superior power level to them (single player not multiplayer). Though could have DBGT Final Bout idea for multi-player and allow players to level up their character by training and battles.
Also there was never Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta or Broly, i know they do this to interest the people who always wanted to see it but it didnt happen. Same reason Star Wars Force Unleashed gave you the chance to kill Vader and take his place (didnt happen but fun to see a 'what if'). Still didnt feel quite right though and i feel the same about this being included.
How does it improve on any of the other games? I enjoyed them but when you have played them quite a bit you see how bare half the game is and how much more could have been included.
Raging Blast has a lot of great improvements. My only complaint is that it doesn't have enough characters. There aren't any Dragon Ball or DBGT characters, and the only characters they have from the movies are Broly and Bardock.
There are, however, 70+ characters (transformations included), and each of them has at least two unique attacks. Most have more than two, though.
The storyline for each saga is explained extremely well. Nothing is left out. And there are far more than four battles for each saga, excluding the Bardock and Legendary Super Saiyan sagas. They are rather short. However, the Saiyan saga has approximately 15 battles, and the Frieza, Android, Buu, and What-If sagas all have more than 20 battles each.
In singleplayer, a weak character usually cannot beat a stronger one. This is only the case because the stronger characters have been given more health. I admit that they could have done more than this, like maybe make their attacks stronger, but at least Broly will usually kick Krillin's ass now.
I realize that there wasn't a SS3 Broly or Vegeta, but I'm a sucker for that "what if" stuff. That's why I love these characters, and that's also why i bought the expansion pack for TFU with those levels after the dark side ending. This is probably also why I like to write fan fiction.
You should at least rent it, it's a great game.

I understand Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta being a cool exclusive, but Super Saiyain 3 Broly? He's already got the long hair and huge power... What's the real differenc apart from missing eyebrows?
Could you mean Super Saiyan 4 Broly?
The hair is very different, check it out:
If only they had a SS4 Broly...
