So, it's been a while since this game came out, and I'm a little surprised none of us brought it up. I don't know if any of you have played it and I haven't myself. Yet.(Wooooo, waiting on it coming in the mail.)

Dragon's Dogma... is a Capcom RPG game. I know what you're thinking, "wut Capcom and RPG in the same sentence?" SERIOUSLY LET ME FINISH BEFORE YOU GO WALTZING BACK TO YOUR SKYRIMZ(or whatever the kids are playing these days.)

This game is seems awesome. I've only played the demo but after fighting a griffon Shadow Of The Colossus style(I **** you not) I said to myself, "You know what Queen, get this game or I kill us both." Schizophrenia aside, the character creation is on par with SR2 and puts Skyrim's to shame(don't flail me, I'll just enjoy it.) Much like Skyrim, it's an open-world RPG, with swords and magic and whatnot - your typical RPG package. But it knows you're not such an easy catch it also tries to romance you with its epic boss fights, wonderful presentation and these things called pawns which are basically your emotionless pack-mule companions.

But

But

But

As much as this game is a unique gem, it's also a flawed one.

1. Only one save file.
2. No fast travel system.

Despite its flaws, the game has actually done fairly well as far as critics go, and Japan pretty much gave it an all round thumbs up. Gamespot gave it 8.5/10, and IGN gave it 7/10. But I don't listen to those guys, I listen to this guy. He knows what's up.

The game's a fun alternative to Skyrim, just as KOA: Reckoning is. So, if you like that game, you'll probably like Dragon's Dogma too.

Played the demo as well and absolutely love the character creator, drowned myself in the ocean of slider adjustments for hours.. to say it puts Skyrim's to shame is an understatement. Angry Joe described it well, that Dogma is a hefty combo of Dark Souls, Elder Scrolls, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, and Shadow of the Colossus. The combat alone is enough to make me want to buy this game next on my list with how fluid, chaotic, and deep it can get. Also, GOD DAMN ZOMBIE SURVIVALS AT NIGHT!!!

I love Skyrim to death on PC, perhaps too much.. but even I have to admit, Dragon's Dogma does similar things that make Skyrim feel pathetic in areas. Such as Boss/Dragon fights, fighting that griffon in the demo was more fun than any dragon fight I had in Skyrim. The Pawn system (aka your personal Slave) is pretty cool, how you can train them, trade them, etc... similar to Pokemon in fact.

But as you said, Queen. it definitely isn't without its flaws. You can't swim in the game, if you do.. you get brutally murderized in an instant by a Cthulu-esque monster.. One of my biggest pet peeves is death by water, hate it. Why does it have to be in this game? Laziness?

Horrible lip syncing, Pawns don't shut up, no creature mounts (I can't tame a badass griffon or a horse??), and the storyline itself is... well, just watch the movie Dragonheart. The single save file limit really cuts me deep though, especially being someone who loves to play as multiple character types. So hopefully they can sort that through a patch. Still, all that aside, I had a really fun time with the demo despite it being painfully short and I too recommend at least checking it out.

I'm sorry for having my own opinion your majesty. I'll go and stay quiet for untold time.

You read my mind. :troll:

Despite this they added the feature of clothing getting wet. Mind you, you can still go in shallow streams and the like, so it's not all bad. Only a little sh*tty.

Ok, very. But meh.

Very sh*tty indeed, the attention to detail is really lovely, but hard to appreciate when other aspects connected to said details end up getting skimped on. Such as fairly nice voice acting but bad lip syncing which can greatly damage immersion.

Gotta love the lip syncing. It wouldn't be so bad if it was like that because the mouths were made to sync with Japanese voice acting, but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

Awesome, just watched the trailer of it, looks pretty interesting, ill download the demo tomorrow and give it a go!

0/10
Console only.

Meh.

So, I finally got the full game. And it's lived up to my expectations and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Still a serious recommendation to everyone.

Gonna be awhile until I can get my grubby little hands on it, maybe a week or two, but hopefully not any longer than that. No new negatives springing up yet?

Just played the demo, not bad, pretty impressive, but I guess ill have to play the full-game to get a good enough judgement about it..

Nope, none, luckily. Another great(though minor) thing is that your character grabs ledges. It's not really that special or anything really, but it's quite cool running and jumping from roof to roof parkour style.

Do eeet.

Umm question, what is the world like (As far as you know) towns, wilderness, and so on, pretty open? or limited like Fable?
And what is interaction like with civilians/npc?

It's open worlded, huge to a point that it rivals Skyrim. It's why the whole no fast travel thing is a bummer. Not at all like Fable.

You can interact with NPCs, improving their disposition with them by presenting them with gifts and receiving quests and completely them for them. The games largest city claims to have around 200 NPCs, I think.

If you're worried about anything, just wait for a price drop first, perhaps.

Sweeeet, shame about the interaction, I like interaction, I guess its because im a loner in RL..

I think their is a deal at my local ebgames shop that if you buy 2 new release games, or 2 games over a certain price, you get it for like 50% off, or something awesome like that..

Might get that and Sleeping Dogs! :D

This is KoA:R all over again.

My buddy told me to play this game like a week ago, so i looked it up and it came out like, a while back
I told Necromancer cus i know he and KoA:R are practically married.
Ive seen a few posts around here lately in other threads.
And now some one has finally make a "play this game cus i find it awesome" thread witch was done twice with KoA:R (one i did my self)

TL;DR
Play it cus its like Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

I just finished Amalur yesterday and damn, this game is waaaay too long. It felt like the main plot was a mere moment of all the tedious dungeon crawling and fetching quests. And a prismere troll gave me more trouble than the final boss.
