The resurrection one gives you a whole LOT of fame. I mean ALOT.
I am doing the Gold one right now.

Really Gold? meh.. Yeah I'd understand why you get alot of Renown for the Ressurection one ha! But I guess.. your dog must Die!? SADDDD!!! I'd send him back!

I went for getting the dog back - didn't do anything else for me really, but at least he's around to sniff out keys and higher level treasure and help fight now that he's learned how to.

I was a little surprised that I got to the ending so quickly, about 2 days of heavy play. I would've been much more satisfied if it had taken about twice as long to unfold, but I am still enjoying building up my character. If I had to offer advice, I'd say do a lot of the little things along the way and don't be in such a hurry to advance the main plot line. In comparison, I think I finished the main GTA4 story after about a week and a half which I found to be a good mixture of story pace and extra curricular activities.

Yea PM specifically said that the story isn't the big Plus about the game but the attachment you will get if you take your time to be drawn in!

PM has placed so much emphasis on the darn dog. So much that the game may feal a little broken without it. So if the dog dies then the gameplay may suffer. Therefore, most people will probably choose to bring back their pooch.

Eh, I prefer the money from the evil choice.
If I play for an hour once a day for 1 week, I will get over 1 million gold :P
That is with out doing anything, just money from all the houses and stores I bought.
