Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

Are you so sure of your Fable-oriented Loyalty?:ninja:
Fable series VS. Elder Scrolls Morrowind-Oblivion.O.o:blush:
Fable 2 Weaknesses & Strengths?
Elder Scrolls Weaknesses & Strengths?

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

Fable ftw! Otherwise I'd be on the Oblivion forums.

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

i'm on both.
oblivion is much more customizable, but the main story arch has always been pretty weak.
Vice versa for Fable.
The customization of buildings has always been a little dissapointing to me.
Hopefully Lionhead will use a more advanced physics engine and allow the specific placement of items. i hate having to carry around everything! especially clothes, the UI for clothing selection and its non-alphabeticle clutter makes it hard to switch outfits with ease.

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

Fable series hands down. There is no competition in my mind.

Oblivion:

Cons:

It's graphics were weird, not bad, but weird.
The third person view was sloppy.
All the time spent in caves and other dark, eye straining areas.

Pros:
The story was good.
More actual npc contact.
Character customization.
Lots of weapon/clothing options.

Fable:

Cons:

Short Game.
Not much character customization or weapon/clothing options.
3rd person was good, but it was the only view.

Pros:

Story was great
3rd person was good.
Sexy clothing.
Immersible.
Smooth game play.
Better combat.
Easier menus.
Better effects.
Good old British humor.
Cooler creatures

Fable:
Pros:
10 ----------------------------------------Score: 7
Cons:
3

Oblivion:
Pros:
5 -------------------------------------------------------Score: 1
Cons:
3

I think 7 is bigger & better than 1.

Therefore, I have concluded that:

Fable is better.

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

Yes I hated that too. I wanted to be able to put my legendaries in a glass box on display or something, in houses that actually differed from one another. All the Oblivion houses were pretty unique, vice versa for fable. The both have elemts with pros and cons.

EDIT: Ninja'd.

That's not true, you can go 1st person.

EDIT: oops, sorry for double post. Damm IPod -_-

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

One thing i absolutely HATED (for reasons unknown to me) was that in fable 2, they downsized every spell into something simpler. I would have preffured the Will bar instead of the Charging up-gameplay. The mana bar just allowed for far more impressive spells, chain lightening, Divine Furry... way better than....raise undead and a weak tornado spell.
Hopefully in fable III the spells will be far more interesting, better effects, not just blue billars of light and a couple yellow swords.

The reason the graphics in Fable II look better, is because they are HIGHLY stylized. Big boobs, Skinny legs, and a lot of swirls and twisty lines made for a better masked resolution.
If the lighting was altered in Oblivion, and they used less HDR coloring it would have been far more interesting to look at.

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

I loved the fact that I had no mana and was free to use as many spells I desired. I still wasn't happy with F2s magic system, but it would've been worse for me with mana.

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

what i meant was that it only allowed for a few spells. maybe more spell slots or variation between spells would have been better. the artwork and design that went into them was pretty weak. they werent as captivating in color and power as the others in F1
What i am completely exited about is the drastic character morphing promised. whings of some type would be fairly interesting or allowing people to think of you as a god.

by the way, you said that you were using your iPod. Is there a blogging app for this site?

First I will analise both games through your points(pros and cons-most of what you wrote is rubbish though). Then I will also add some new pros and cons.

Oblivion Cons:
You said:
The graphics were weird:
I say:
Oblivion is a sandbox, open world,it came out in 2006.The graphics look very good for a sandbox,I even think that Oblivion has better graphics than Fable 2.

You said:
Third Person view was sloppy:
It had some flaws, but it was ok,Fable 2 had better TPV,but it was the only view, yes it was, because when the camera was slapped onto your back you could not move.Oblivion also had FPV,and it was great,it really makes up for the TPV.

I will not comment the third con you mentioned because it is just stupid.

Fable pros:
You said:The story was great:
I say:
Hell no,the story was linear, predictable, short and rather boring.

You said:
Immersible:
Besides the ability to have a family the game was not immersible, the family is the only thing missing in Oblivion.

You said:
Smooth gameplay:
The game is laggy, especially when you maxed out evil and corrupt.

You said:
Better combat:
The combat in fable 2 is rubbish, pure rubbish,it is way to easy and you can`t even jump ffs,the combat sistem is bad, there is no mana ffs.

You said:
easier menus:
No,just no,menus were not easier, they were a list of things, pretty much the same like Oblivion, except oblivion menus were alot nicer.

Better effects:
Like what, battle effects were not too good, probably because of the lagg.

You said:
Cooler creatures:
The variety in creatures is just uncomparable, hobbes were ****,so were hollow man.

I would just like to say that Fable 2 is a nice easy game, but it is not a true in depth RPG like Oblivion,Fable has no classes, customization is bad, characters are boring, there is very little variety between them. The game is very short, the story is not too good, but yet it has something special, the family, this is the only reason why I like this game. But in every other aspect it is Oblivion>Fable 2

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

I can't choose.

I loved Fable 2 but I got around 300+ hours out of Oblivion. IMO, Oblivion - Fable 2. I can't choose between them.

But at the end of it all, Fallout 3 reigns supreme.

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

Oblivion destroys everything. I decorated all my houses with gems, weapons and stuff...

Something you can't do in Fable. Same as you can't have families in TES...

I devoted the prairy (whatever it's called with the monk you have to kill ) to ONLY glass armor and weapons, the front door was just a "sea" of gems and rings and suff, all completely useless to me, but they did make for an impressive amount of gold when i realized that a few would dissapear every time i left... :(:'(:blush:O.o:(

Okay, now let me have my turn.

1. I just think they could have done better with the textures, the people weren't at all pleasing to look at.

2. I hate fpv, it bugs the hell outta me, but I like to have the option of both a good third person and first person view, not one that's sloppy and one that's good. And if I have to only have one I want tpv.

3. I hate, caves, 1-5 is plenty, but oblivion had like 30, and alot of the quest involved those insane amounts of caves.

4. The oblivion story was this: An evil under/overlord wants to come from hell/oblivion and take over the world, and the characters were boring as hell.
Fable had interesting characters with emotion, and their faces showed it.

5. See 4

6. Laggy?!?!?! You say laggy and your talking about oblivion?! All I have to say is: Haw Fricken Haw!!!

7. I like simple, one button combat, not shuffling through 100 weapons and 200 spells to find the right one because you can only assign one spell at a fricken time!!! Also, arrows counts as and equipped weapon.. WTF.....

8. see 7

9. The spell effects in oblivion were just fail, probably because of the extreme lag that I don't experience the slightest bit of with fable.

10. I would rather fight hobbes and hollow men and other possessed evil creatures then average joes, goblins, lizards, and wildlife

I think these are plenty valid reasons for me to like fable more.

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

Fable has humour, some parts made me laugh. Oblivion has jokes that you can't hear only the reactions to them. Just one of the reasons I like fable better.

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

Well this is interesting...
I will tell you from the start that I prefer TES series over Fable series even though I like them both, but... here are the reasons...
Ehem...
TES world is much, much, much larger and gives you way more freedom than Fable and by doing so it doesn't bond you to single story line with few sidesteps like Fable...
Fables main selling point were choices and you can't get rid off of a simple dog...
I mean... I like dogs... but what if I don't want a ****ing mutt around me all the time... that the 1st choice they don't let me make...
I even heard that in Fable 2 you can't finish main quest without having a family... I mean... wtf?
TES doesn't force a single **** on me...
It's you, Tamriel and all the asses you can kick or lick if you want... your choice...
Graphics are better in Fable... true... especially movement of characters and creatures... they seem more natural while in TES they all seem to be so stiff... even though that doesn't mean that TES series are far behind (I mean... Morrowind has best virtual water and sky I have ever seen)...
Effects are equally good in both games in my opinion...
Story... well... there is a main story line in TES, but with all the guilds and people around you you actually have a whole bunch of stories and quest around that even if you didn't like main story you can still find something you will like and enjoy while Fable is pretty much limited when it comes to that...
Creatures are much better in TES... there is a lot of wildlife so you are not limited to monsters and such and there is nice bunch of various creatures, undead and other stuff that you can kill while Fable series don't offer you a very large list of different enemies...
Action is much better in Fable for me though...
It's much easier to control my self from hurting allies while I cant make a single proper swing with my weapon and not have some dumb ally NPC jump in front of me and lets his ass swallow my attack... plus attack and movement animations are much better in Fable in my opinion...
Items... as much as I remember TES beats Fable there to...
Magic... while, TES need some other type of spells like chain lighting and rain of fire like spells to make it more colorful and stuff, it still offers much larger selection of spell than Fable...
And I mean... Fable 2 doesn't have a ****ing mana... I mean... wtf... how stupid is that... it's like having a gun that doesn't waste bullets... simply stupid...
In TES you need arrows for your bows and mana for your spell like it should be done in a real RPG.... and ffs... you can't even jump in Fable, and I can't remember any good sneak action in Fable to...
Over all... nothing else comes to my mind now...
I didn't play Fable 2 because it wasn't released for Windows (I've played Fable TLC though), but I saw some gameplay and read about it...
Could be that I am wrong about some of my opinions, but I doubt it because Fable 2 looks to me just like Fable TLC, but with some minor changes...

Re: Fable 2 VS. Elder Scrolls Oblivion

You can finish the main quest without a family. Having a family just includes a mention that lucien....

Killed both your wife and child

And the gameplay is different from TLC.

Lithany you haven't played fable 2 and so your opinion is biased.

Well, you can`t really compare these 2 games since Fable 2 is not a real RPG.
