I think that might be the whole point. Your hero from II going on to become a king or queen in III.

That would be a pretty cool idea. You could go into the castle library and read about how the Hero of Bower Lake helped to clean up Old Town or rid the land of gargoyles. Your actions in II could even help your reputation and rally more support in III.

It would also be cool if the statues you commisioned in II were still in the same places and poses (maybe a little moss-covered by now).

I mean as like, the father and moth may make a small appearance (Hero and wife in F2)
Because they have said your daughter or son will be the main character (From what i know)

Moss covered statues from the previous game's sound great!
All will be revealed soon.
We cant see the future.
Bad pun, lol.
Anyway, +rep 4 u

d3m, could you edit the first post? If you need a layout heres one, makes it easier for people that go to this thread.

I could've sworn they said they moved the timeline along 50 years, and in that time your Hero could have died of old age or gotten sick of the job and abdicated or whatever.

They did, so don't worry, you're not cRaZy

After all, there were always references to Samarkand and wherever the hell Thunder and Whisper came from and all that.

They came from Samarkand...lol

Re: Fable 3 announced!!!

So Fable II takes place around 1800's (Steam powered locomotives)
However Fable III seems to take place in the 1850's. (Or around there)

1838

1866

  • Alfred Nobel invents dynamite.
  • Englishmen Robert Whitehead invents a torpedo.
1885

  • Harim Maxim invents the machine gun.
  • Karl Benz invents the first practical automobile to be powered by an internal-combustion engine.
  • Gottlieb Daimler invents the first gas-engined motorcycle.
So, from what you guys have learned Albion is far more advanced in time then our world was at the time, it's possible they could have invented vehicles within a 50 year time frame,
So? Vehicles a go or no go? Seems like a possiblility.
(I DONT MEAN DRIVABLE, I mean like replacing the horse carriages and such in towns that bring you places quickly)

Yeah, sorry. I missed that part. Or read it and forgot it. Or something.

It might be interesting if the game reads whatever kids you've got in II and ages one of them to become the hero in III. Or possibly reads you and your wife and uses the two of you as a template to create a new hero? Either way, that could rock.

Or maybe it's nothing so complicated.

As for not needing reknown when you're the "king of everything" - ever heard of opinion polls? Public relations? International diplomacy? Kings and world leaders need to think about their reputation a lot more than heroes do.

Really? What time is that?

You say it "seems" to be set in the 1800s, but that's just you making assumptions. And even if you can nail the culture/dress/technology of Fable II to a specific point in Earth's history, who says their development has to follow the same path as ours?

I just don't see the point in speculating that this or that artifact should be in the game because of a percieved parallel with Earth history. Albion isn't Earth. Their history and technology can be as different as Molyneux chooses to make it. Did we have hobbes and balverines on Earth in the 1800s?

Veeeery interesting. And rep to Xeon.

But unlike with Fable II, I refuse to buy into the hype and speculation this time. Regardless of that, Im buying the game the moment it comes out.

But, I have 2 questions.

1. It reads your Fable II save, what if you dont have a Fable II save?
2. Late 2010 seems a bit to early, doesnt it? Especially considering the 4+ year wait for Fable II.

Unlike Fable 1 & 2 they don't need to build up the game from the bottom this time. And if it's gonna be as short as Fable 2, all they have to do is create a new world, questline, a bucket of models, some spells and a few gameplay improvements.

Exactly, Fable was in development for a long time because it was so ambitious and on a brand new platform. Ended up that it was too ambitious and it fell short of many peoples expectations. Then the sequel was on a new platform and so also took quite some time to create while they familiarised themselves with the new technology at hand. Fable III will be on the same platform they have already developed for and they have the base model for it and the knowledge of the tools and technology so the development time will be shorter.

They have already said they have another one coming and Fable III is still a year away so more could come in the time being.

thats good to hear, they should make it a BIG DLC lol

Re: Fable 3 announced!!!

the stupid thing is there making these episodic content to attract newcomers to the series, what about pleasing your current fanbase before it dwindles to just hardcore fans who listen to every bit of speculation and hype!!!! i wanna rewire peters head, see what stupid stuff he thinks up...

You, see this thread. Vehicles. We've already talked/are talking about it.

You, see this thread: Fable III time period.

And yeah, we've had the "analog" argument to death, now and before F2. No real conlusion to it. People who said that Molyneaux could do whatever he wanted because it was a fantasy loved bringing up hobbes and balverines. But we still didn't get gliders, trains, or bicycles. Very dissapointing.

Re: Fable 3 announced!!!

I hope this doesn't come out next year. It took Fable 2 4 years to come out after the original, and it was a good time period of waiting, pondering, and excitement. But having Fable 3 come out 2 years after 2 is pretty dumb in my opinion, look what quick games releases did to Call of Duty, a new game every 10-12 months. I think it shouldn't come out till at lease 2011 at the earliest. That will give tem more time to create new whatever as well.

Difference with Call Of Duty is that we only get the proper versions every 2 years (created by original developers Infinity Ward). Inbetween they are handed over to someone else entirely so essentially its 2 different games but with the same brand name. Games no longer take an age to make when they have the base engines sorted. 5 year development cycles are rare and only happen usually when its the first game in a series or on a new platform. Assassins Creed 2 for example is looking to better its predecessor in every way imaginable and it hasnt taken an age to create.

In addition to what Drakan said, please, don't jinx us. With our luck, Peter Molyneaux will get overexcited and the game will end up getting pushed back.

Re: Fable 3 announced!!!

ah well i think i would be so angry if the game got pushed back lol! as if we dont have long enough to wait!

im guessing that they were working on fable 3 whilst working on 2 sooo its actually been in the works longer than we think.

Pllllleaaase listen to the fans' suggestions lol cause i think as the people who play the game we know best :)

Re: Fable 3 announced!!!

i was reading stuff on fable 3, and for those who didnt know, they started working on fabe 3 half way through number 2, and it is in Albion and surronding countries Napoleonic Era, you will rise up and revolt agaisnt the current ruler of the fable world. you will become ruler and you are the kid of ur hero from number 1, so it takes 50 years after number 2, i dont think the hero's guild is back =(

Re: Fable 3 announced!!!

just some things to put straigt: peter molyneux promised that reaver would return in a DLC, apperantly this DLC will be for fable 3 >=).
when i saw the trailer on gamekings i was like: gr8 a new fable 2 DLC, maybe im gonna get this one. then when i saw the crown i thought: holy ****, so now in this DLC youre gonna be king of albion. so the official fable 3 announcement can't be far off (since i already knew from the see the future dlc ur gonna play as the kid of the king).
then at the ending i saw fable with 3 'I's" behind it and i was: HOLY MOTHER OF ASS!! FABLE 3, NOT SOME SORT OF DLC?!?!?!?!

my specs will be that books will be written about the king, the game will be harder (well at least the part that has you getting relationships, since with only a noble gent's suit on in fable 2 you can get a whole village to want to marry you) i also think were going to see a slight improvement in the guns.
and i just hope taht while im adventurign a pop-up will come up saying: return to the fcking castle at once, theres an angry mob or smth, * I dont want to keep doing political mumbo jumbo*

Re: Fable 3 announced!!!

Ok why are people saying III is set in the 1800s when its only a few years after fable II.
