Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

Really I mean Fable needs alot more ethnic characters, ok you do have garth and the odd black women, who by the way is only gypsies (the working class of the Fable world), plus theres no chinese or indian people. Especially now when China and India are growing economically and population size. There should be more customization with the hero in the next Fable's, ethnically wise. :(

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

it's the late 1800s
There weren't much "multi-culturalism" back then

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

Yeah but its a fantasy game it doesn't have to be completely accurate

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

You're right

And it isn't :)

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

Don't get me wrong I love Fable especially Fable 2, but I think theres a big market for a lead ethnic character in a fantasy game, hopefully Fable

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

You black then?

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

Brown actually but my dads black so it still counts.

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

I get what you're saying.

Probably wouldn't be much of an effort to have two diffrent skin tones to choose from.

Then again - I don't know anything about making a game... Unless it involves alcohol :yammer:

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

I think it would be cool to have an all black game that didn't involve gangsters or fighting, you know all the things that come with black nihilism

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

But the Archon's bloodline is mainly white.

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

Why does is matter what color the character's skin is?
It's not like I bought Prince of Persia because the main character is Middle Eastern.

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

I think it would be a bit odd when back in that time period, where it's located, it's suppose to be nearly all white...
But I mean, it wouldn't hurt if there were a little more options I suppose... but considering the time period and location, it just doesn't seem right.
Are there pictures of people from Aurora out? If not, it could be that there different in skin color? Or at least they have more diversity than Albion...

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

"Multiculturalism"sucks balls. Adding people of varying skin color for the sole reason of appealing to the demand of "multiculturalism" is one of the worst taboos you can do as a creator of any form of media. Nothing good has ever come out of that, only stock token characters and stereotypes.

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

This may come across as racist, and it most likely is.

I don't think this will ever happen. Game developers make games that they would buy, and that a lot of people would buy. Considering how small of a demographic black people are in the U.S. and the U.K., your chances are pretty slim of getting one that isn't involving rappers and gansters. Most people involved in game production are white, and a game about black people who aren't gangsters made by a bunch of white guys would be even more awkward than a game about black people who are gangsters made by a bunch of white guys.

Maybe eventually in Japan, but even there the Japanese game characters often do not look Japanese or even Asian at all. Maybe they'll get around to making black characters who look Caucasian, but I doubt it.

Also, Fable is supposed to be in an England-like place, and as Tyrant Lord said, it wouldn't make much sense for the main character to be black. Maybe in Fable III you can dye your skin (just kidding you can't)!

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

If they arent as numerous in something, minorities b**ch about being under represented. If they are featured, they find a way to complain that the behavior exibited is racist or misrepresentation. I dont care what your ethnicity is, I treat all people as equals, that means minorities get no special treatment, they're just another person, I dont owe them s**t.

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

Aurora will be more Ethnic.

Samarkland, would expected to be aswell.

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

The bottom line is that you can't please everyone.

Yeah full of black peop- I'm sorry I meant garths

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

has anyone noticed that in most games where you can select to be black you're just a white person that's very tan?

Re: Fable desperately needs more Multi-Culturalism

honestly i can see where your coming from, but i cant support it. fable is like 1500 england, it was a bunch of white people, and the occasional brownie, very rare. so to even see garth and thunder is a rare occurence indeed. and honestly, couldnt you pick on most games for this? except elder scrolls, redguard is a great race.
