Re: Fable IV

^This.

Once you start getting too modern, you lose the whole feeling of being in a... well... fable.

As for the prequel ideas, I like the prospect of a game set during the fall of the Guild. At least then we would still have the freedom to create our own characters, rather than being constricted to the predetermined developments of William Black or Nostro.

Re: Fable IV

I made a roleplay in the Pub Games section about this. If Molyneaux wants to set one during the fall of the Guild, he'll have me to answer to.

I'm sure he'll need your permission. :D

I think a prequel would be pretty cool. . . But if they really did decide to go into a more modern setting, I'm sure the Fable crew would find ways to make it Fabley.

Re: Fable IV

I also like the idea of a prequel, could bring something else to the game :P

Re: Fable IV

I wouldn't mind a First World War style setting for Fable, but I think that really is as far as I'd want it to go.

Re: Fable IV

WW1 era might be quite cool, I was just talking with Firis about how cool Russian WW1 military coats were.

Dude, its just a thought... nothing is impossible.

Re: Fable IV

I like the idea to have a prequelish Fable set during the downfall of the Guild, I was thinking about that myself.

Except Fable in the space age.

Re: Fable IV

Okay I heard ALOT of stuff about making fable more of an action adventure game which is said about fable III and as a play of the original fable I'm not liking this, I like the roleplaying element and and I feel they're slowly taking that away. it seemds asthough in later games your hero will not be YOUR hero, i liked fable because I could make the charector look and feel like myself and it was fun, which is the main reason I avoid action adventure games, your thrown into the role of some random charector who you can't fully relate too. So imo it should be a prequel either during the fall of hero's or before the frst hero. I.E. Starting up the heor's guild =D

Re: Fable IV

When they say they're making it more of an action adventure kind of game, they just mean they're making it more dramatic and giving it a better story. To me, it's extremely obvious that they're trying to make each and every Hero unique. They want each player to have their very own Hero. That's why they removed armor ratings in Fable 2 and added morphing weapons in Fable 3. Peter's even talked many times about how he doesn't like it when a game just throws you into a setting and says "You're this character no matter what." Trust me, that element will never be removed.

I was thinking something like that, it might actually work even though some people may disagree.

I reckon they could pull it off as long as they kept a feeling of juxaposition in the game between the mythology of Fable & the early 20th century, E.g. Hobbes with brody helmets, Deserters as well as bandits but still armed with swords as well as rifles. Also demon doors should still be present.

Although what I've just said may probably discust some people, I think risks are worth taking when it comes to pushing boundries with projects. However I would still very much like to see a prequel set during or shortly after the times of the Old Kingdom.

Re: Fable IV

^The guns and technology of that time would still be too advanced to have swords and other melee weapons around. It just wouldn't work.

Re: Fable IV

This whole steampunk thing they're trying to do is almost too far for me. Bring it back down to where Fable 1 was at. It was such a magical environment to play in. Sure, Fable II was a great game, and Fable III will be a great game, but they'll never beat Fable 1 unless they do something drastic with the setting.

Re: Fable IV

They already have beaten Fable 1.

We already have that anyway, it's called 'Star Wars' ^_^

Re: Fable IV

Are you saying that the setting of Fable II is better than Fable I?

Re: Fable IV

No, Fable I setting is much better than Fable II. I'm saying that space age Fable would be Star Wars. Come on, Force=Will, Jedi=Heroes...

Re: Fable IV

Well, I hope that Fable IV will use a name on its own. However, I doubt there will be any Fable IV.

Personally, I don't think one setting was better than the other, but overall, Fable 2 was a much better game.
