Fable IV?!?!

Anyone thinking about going back in Fable 4? I like the bigger maps, but the new industries, and technology makes the game feel a little "unemotional" somehow. I want to know what the "old kingdom" was like. I am tired of reading about it, or hearing about it from books and random villagers talking. I want to know where the hero line started in the family... It would be a breath of fresh air to go back in time, rather than focus on what is coming next in the fable storyline...

Maybe they could do some DLC which brings back the Oracle. I liked that from the first game...

I forgot about that... they should bring back some of the small stuff from the first Fable... but keep the touch system for sure...

It's called fable 1. That's where it all started

No it isn't in Fable I you are a descendant of William Black a hero of the old kingdom the only contact we ever have with any person from the old kingdom is with Jack of Blades who uses his mask to jump from body to body making him essentially immortal

So, would you be a hero version of jack of blades?

No.... if you were going back to the old kingdom it would not be like anything in any other fable. The kingdom was pretty much destroyed by the destruction of the spire and jack of blades came from the void and is one of a kind (apart from the queen and knight) Im guessing you would be like.... archon or some random hero that we have never heard of. But if that's true its gonna be a bit tricky because in the other three fables no one has ever talked about you and if your from the past people would have heard of you in fable, fable 2 and fable 3... but i hope they do make an old kingdom fable

The only thing I want to see is what happened in those 500 years from F1-F2.

wait, was it 500 years?

I think it would be hard for them to create a prequel anyways because they'd either have to modify how combat worked back to the way it did in Fable I (which I doubt they'd do) or leave everything the one button system now, and if they were to leave everything one button then the magic system, because I would expect them to add all of the old spells back in, would become confusing and complicated especially when switching through spells and creating a targeted and AoE version of each spell. Like the physical shield spell.. that's one you can't really target at people.

I personally, unlike what seems to be everyone else here, wouldn't mind if they got into modern day and futuristic. Although I think Modern day may be complicated as guns would be the only viable form of combat. I mean no one nowadays goes around with swords to kill people. And magic would have probably died out completely as well. Futuristic Fable on the other hand would probably be easier as I would picture it to be starwars like in nature although I wouldn't necessarily expect it to cover the entirity of a galaxy, maybe just a shift from Albion to the 'moon' or other space places.

But who's for me to say? We already know that they plan on making Fable IV & V so we'll just have to let time play out and see what they do with their popular, yet also much hated, franchise.

(Personally I'd like to go back to the time of the Heroe's guild. I'd like to be able to play as just a hero and build up my own legacy. Maybe Lionhead should take that weapon morphing system and upgrade it into a story morphing system so that anyone who plays the game doesn't have teh same adventure. Make each hero have their own unique story. Not sure how'd they do it, but a chance to truly fashion your own hero with no set path (true storyline) would be awesome.)

My ideas for F4:

Chronologically F4 is set later than F3, but...
Theresa uses the power of the Spire to blast the Kingdom, a sacrifice to permanently end the darkness. History repeats itself, it turns out!
F4 is thus a return to low-tech and is set many years after 'the fall'.
No main story, just a huge sandbox world in which you try to survive as an adventurer/merc, starting as an outcast teenager.
Patrons who want things done/found/stolen/captured/killed.
Tombs, towns, dungeons, ruins, caves, camps.
HUGE world, many 'zones', loads and loads of places to see/things to do.
No dog.
Climbing/rope use to allow truly 3d exploring.
No more being blocked by knee-high scenery.
Logical loot types and placement. Randomised to make game hugely replayable.
The ability for a character to die, and for each character to be different.
Augments, not morphing.
Combat style, graphics and other engine mechanics are simply tweaks of F3.
The need for your character to eat, drink and sleep.
New and old baddies, no lazy re-skins. Baddies do NOT level with you.
WOW factor scenery.

Think of it as 'Fable returns to RPG and meets Oblivion/Fallout/TW2'. Variety and massive scale would be the key - sandboxes need to be both big and detailed - a tough ask.

I dream of this game. Will I ever see it? Sadly, I doubt it. TW2 is looking tasty, though I much prefer the Fable graphical style to anything else around.

Whatever form it takes, F4 needs to be vastly bigger and longer than F3.

nice idea! You should send in ideas on their home page, which i think you can do. They might already be starting F4, but if they aren't that idea would be a really cool game. I have played Oblivion, Morrowind (ES3), and Fallout 3. They were all really cool games. If you COULD die, the game would have to auto save like every 5 minutes. Also, I like in the Bethesada (I think that's how you spell it) how you can see first and third person. That would be nice cause I would like to see things up close. The weapons, in my opinion, look awesome when they morph with you, but like legendary weapons, the augments should be scattered throughout Albion.
As for the outcast teenager, what would you be thinking with that as a plot

Pmolly did say at one point in time, though I do not remember which, that he did want to make a fable in which you went back to the old kingdom. Ill do a bit of digging in some old threads and forums to find solid information, either that or I will get pelted with rocks.

I think a old kingdom pre-qual would be great they could even keep guns under the excuse that the man who invented the gun was influenced by old kingdom technology I mean they made an excuse to explain every other lazy thing they've done so far why not that too

What do you mean? How have they made an excuse to cover up laziness?

Why a prequel? Don't we have tons of unsolved mysteries in the current timeline? I thought the hero's of old were tied up rather nicely actually. I think a better concept for using a prequel would be fable the mmo, cuz then the multiple heroes would make sense...

I think the only direction I want fable to go is to allow us to choose who we want to be. Why not pirate with battle at sea? How about an inventor or artist? It would be nice to get some specialization is all.

i have afew idead for fable 4 either same time as fable 3 or less but if it is same time zone as 3 play as a different hero abit more reigons BRING BACK COATS character customisation (or creation) more enemies aurora has more reigons and yeah feel free to tell me how you feel about my suggestions

I think the one problem with Fable that peevs people off is that it's much harder to make a game like Fable than it is for any other game simply because of the complex NPC AI for ALL the villagers especially with the interactions and all that. Furthermore, Fable 3 introduced MANY new things which I'm sure Lionhead spent hours programming, including the touch system and the sanctuary.
If anything, I'd like to see Fable 3 as more of a new platform on which the next 2 Fables will be built upon. i.e. they dont need to change that much gameplay wise, except maybe choosing interactions and all. Rather they need to build on storyline, locations and the depth of the game in order to truly compete (commercially) with other stuff out there.
Fable has bags of potential and that is why I renew my continued support.

I'm refering to the fact that they used lame excuses to not have to retexture a few more monster models but a Fable MMO does sound intruiging

The ability for a character to die
Never going to happen. The story is the whole point of fable. And dying was removed because people get annoyed when they die and have to keep repeating a particular fight (even people who expect this still get annoyed by it eventually)
That's also why it is extremely unlikely that any game will ever make it compulsory to have to eat, drink and sleep. While it would make hardcore RPers happy it would cut out over half of it's current audience
And from half of your ideas it seems like you won't be happy until Fable becomes oblivion in which case why not just play oblivion?
