Fable:TLC coming to the 360 marketplace??

Well i was just wondering if any of you guys know. Also i have a few questions about TLC itself. If you play it with memory of the original fable will it still have your old character? what new weapons/armour/monsters/places are there? well thats it..:D

Re: Fable:TLC coming to the 360 marketplace??

your character will defiantly not be carried over and the new stuff is the quest after you kill jack of blades in the land of snowspire where you can get lots of new stuff, i couldn't say what though because i havent played for a long time

I reckon that Fable: The Lost Chapters will be released on the Xbox Marketplace at some point. Microsoft knows that they'd manage to sell plenty of copies of Fable: TLC on the marketplace if they released it for sale, say, two weeks before the release of Fable 2. The hype for Fable 2 alone will help influence people in purchasing copies of the previous game. Just my opinion.

For anyone here who has bought the origional Fable off of the marketplace, can you tell me how it runs? I want to buy it but I heard there are a lot of bugs.

The marketplace versions of games are great! They are very convenient!

Re: Fable:TLC coming to the 360 marketplace??

I have it, it seems to run fine, occasionally you hear bad audio which lasts under a second.

However some things I read about regarding trading defenitly behave different to my game.

I read you can do things like sell entire stock of perfume to trader, buy again and sell again for profits, on my game this defenitly doesnt work and I have level 6 guile. The buy all and sell all is not fixed on the listed price as I added the value up.

As I havent played it on the xbox I dont know if there is glitches as such other than the audio, the different trader behaviour might be down to that it was redesigned in TLC which you all seem to be playing.

What upset me was that TLC is out and they put the original on xbox live catching people like me out who wasnt aware TLC was the same game but enhanced.

microsoft should really make this 0 points or at least heavily discounted for those who got fable, they sold fable knowing that TLC was already out.

Problems I noticed so far.

1 - jerky graphics especially in oakvale and bowerstone. This could be normal tho, I read people have said xbox360 is slower than xbox on the game but they say its only a small amount.
2 - I didnt think this was problem at first, but I seen on youtube on xbox loading and saving games is very fast, on my xbox360 loading a saved game takes nearly 2 minutes.
3 - game slows down when playing for many hours, (more jerky than usual) so have to reboot xbox360.
4 - tattoos seem buggy, (a) when adding a tattoo game pauses with stuttering sound for about 5 seconds, when doing remove all tattoos it pauses and stutters for well over a minute. (b) I have no tattoos on face but when I zoom in without a helmet one is visible.
5 - sleeping in my oakvale house once the game crashed, the stuttering occured and after 5 minutes waiting I rebooted the xbox360, this so far has only happened once tho.

Loading time between areas seems slow, I dont know if it usually faster on xbox (after seeing how quick load/save games is on youtube I am wondering). Bear in mind the download version plays of the hard drive which should beat a dvd/cd by miles for speed, so I dread to think how slow my disc version of TLC will run.

ok this dont sound good I know :(

during the fight with maze it froze up 6 times I eventually finished it, then chased jack round no more freezes but then right after the autosave before chamber of fate fight with jack screen flashed and another crash. So loads of crashes in close succession, either the game is very buggy at this point or my xbox might be overheating or something so turning it off for a bit.

Completed game now, after it was turned off for few hours I finished it with no more crashes, TLC is on the way to me in the post. I brought the disc version rather then waiting to see if microsoft will ever put it up and plus I get the manual etc. as well.

Re: Fable:TLC coming to the 360 marketplace??

Ok I got TLC now, finally arrived.

My personal view is there is quite a few changes in TLC, enough to make me think fable was pretty much a beta version of the final product making microsoft even more evil for not putting TLC on live instead of the original.

Things like the interface change, menu when browsing equipment is different, the special attack icon is a different colour, demon doors are different colour on the mini map, fist fighting is defenitly different, houses are more expensive, weapons have different stats.

Trading looks like it was redone totally in TLC and explains why the money trick only works in TLC.

In the original you can either buy one item or do buy maximum, if you do buy maximum you do not pay the listed price for all the quantity. eg 50 apples listed at 1 gold each you would likely pay about 100-120 gold for them depending on guild. Whilst in TLC they would cost exactly 50 gold. The reason is in the original the increased price formula for the bulk buy applies whilst in TLC (more realisticly) it doesnt. In addition to that change there is an option to buy medium quantities such as buy 10 and buy 50 making trading far easier to do. The prices also in general seem more in your favour, on only guild level 1 alot of items with only 10-20 in stock had green (below RRP) prices, on the original fable stock had to be over 35ish for green prices.

Some other changes like that wasps fight you a bit different and how you pick up items. In the original fable an item from a barrel or fight was a sack on the floor and you dont know what it is until you pick it up and you had to manually pick it up. In TLC you simply walk over it and when breaking barrels you get the item automatically. There is more accents in the villagers, and different varied looks. So far I have also seen an extra cut scene as well you get in the guild before taking 2nd quest which isnt there in the original. Plus a extra cut scene with maze in his quarters. The extra quests are sweet and make the game seem much less empty.

Regarding TLC on the xbox360 here is my observations.

Areas are slower loading which was no surprise at all, sometimes only a little slower but other times a lot slower. Sometimes when you fighting or when music changes the game jerks and I think thats due to loading sound changes etc. of the dvd rather than hard drive, also if you run around an area fast the rendering cant keep up and again I think thats loading delay of the disc. when using my shovel he just taps the ground and then I get the item, in the original I had the full animation (this is only thing worse so far), this might be a bug which is why I got it under xbox 360 changes. The game itself has crashed 3 times in early game so far, the original I didnt have a single crash until the maze fight in hook coast so I save often now. Finally a pleasant surprise, I earlier commented how I felt the xbox360 version is more jerky, well it seems in TLC some optimisations were done and the game is noticebly less jerky in towns and runs more like the TLC I see in youtube clips.

Anyone who has got fable of live I reccomend getting the disc version, and when the new dashboard is released in november it will allow games to be installed to the hard drive for fast loading (including xbox games) so should alleviate the dvd related problems I pointed out.

To me microsoft putting the original fable up (essentially a commercial beta) on live is just profiteering likely knowing anyone who likes the game will then go out and get a copy of TLC.

Re: Fable:TLC coming to the 360 marketplace??

some other changes and tips to avoid crashes.

the special unblockable attack is weaker in TLC. (a) it can only be used once on powerful creatures like trolls which in the original as long as you didnt take a physical hit or missed with it, you could use it again and again like it says in the manual. (b) it does less damage in TLC, in the original it doubles the damage you do in TLC its more than normal damage but way less than double.
Some missions they changed the people you fight (typically harder).

TLC is more prone to crashing on the xbox360 and I have also noticed now its getting very jerky, not sure why was smooth early game but the xbox360 struggles with it especially when physical shield is on.
(a) I noticed every single crash I have had in TLC has been when the physical shield is on, so if someone is getting repeated crashes during a quest try doing it without physical shield.
(b) I always clear my cache on the hard drive now before playing the game, I have a theory when the cache is full the game is more prone to crashing as everytime I have done this I have been able to play for at least 3 hours.
(c) for people who say the updates you download for the game when first loading it keeps looping again and again, I discovered if you not signed into xbox live when doing the update it just keeps asking again and again to update, but if you signed in it only does it once, you can sign out afterwards and it wont ask again unless you clear the cache.
(d) I also now signout of xbox live, so basically I clear cache, load the game whilst logged into xbox live and download update, quit game and then sign out of xbox live and load/play game.

I believe original fable is less prone to crashing because its playing of the hard drive and probably way less caching going on, so hopefully when the new dashboard is out and can install TLC to hard drive the game will be more stable.

Re: Fable:TLC coming to the 360 marketplace??

Well it cant be perfect, the xbox 360 is basicly emulating the game, thats how they got the old xbox games to work on the 360, so it will run a little slower and be prone to crashes more, but hey you can play it! Heck just go dig up your old xbox if you have one and use that lol.

Re: Fable:TLC coming to the 360 marketplace??

dont have a xbox but I really wish I do, my sister after I showed her fable has brought a xbox with fable TLC for £16 of ebay, and I expect she has the better purchase because so far all my favourite games on the 360 are either arcade downloads or xbox originals. Not a single 360 game yet has me hooked, and I find the text in them all too small which ruins the games.

Fable 2 arrived today tho so time will tell if that makes me buying the 360 worthwhile.

As far as jerknyess goes, so far all my 360 games do it as well (the ones with best graphics).
fifa09 jerks
pes jerks
gta4 jerks

It seems there is a over concentration on making graphics nice looking and high resolution (optimised for hdtv) on the 360 and then gameplay suffers because the 360 cant keep up. On fable2 peter even said in an interview their reason for removing the minimap is because they didnt like people using it to navigate and not looking at the nice scenery graphics instead.
