Hangin' out in a corn field
Its funny how big Facebook has got, like, it is huge, its the new youtube, its crazy, it controls so many people, But I cant mock the people who use them and call them brainless, because, I use it. Its like things seem more real to people on facebook then in real life. If you write something on yourpage, or on someone elses page, they take it more seriously, and believe it more then if you were to say it in person. People who you have never really talked to, talk to you on facebook.

Im annoyed at how people hide behind technology, they cant be themselves, they need their materialistic things.

This thread is really just a rant.. Join in!

What do YOU think about Facebook?

I've never had a facebook or a myspace, and I never will. I also refuse to capitalize the names of those sites (just like I do with france and names of religions). Although myspace is dead now (which is awesome), both of these sites are massive time wasters that start pointless and ridiculous bouts of drama from extremely insignificant pictures, comments, and statements. People also tend to get more shallow while using them by doing things like trying to get more friends than other people to seem more popular. As ScareCrow said, people also use it as something to hide behind. Because people chat on facebook instead of talking face to face, they end up acting tougher or cooler. Then, they turn out to be a total pussy or a douche in real life. For example, I was having a sh*tty day a while ago, and I got into an argument with one of my friends while we were texting. He said I didn't have the balls to say what I was saying except through texting, so I called him to say it over the phone. He then rejected my call and continued the argument through texting. Why do you think this is? He used to have a myspace and currently has a facebook. I've never had either one. You do the math.

I would also like to say that continued use of myspace or facebook tends to suck people into it, gets them more attached or addicted, and makes them more susceptible to everything mentioned in the rant above.

Haha, Fair enough! Yeah Its getting pretty ridiculous ay, I mean, Im going to keep my facebook, just so I can communicate to those I cant, and its free to aswell..

I dont play games on it, I use to, but the realised that they were all **** and pointless, so I just use it to keep an eye on friends, communicate and all that.

I decided to change my "Relationship status" to "In a Relationship" (I am single) just to see how many will believe writing right infront of them.. Oh, they believed it alright.

Facebook for Me is a communication tool not a life aspect. I simply use it to communicate with friends to arrange events with them or drop the occasional comment on a disscusion board and nothing more. I wouldn't really miss it if it disappeared.

it's crazy how much you should watch what you put on your facebook. employers check your page. if you put something on there and delete it, it's never really deleted, just hidden. facebook will sell your information to a high enough bidder. i'm a journalism major, and if a potential employer see's anything that would put me on a particular side on any issue it's a reason not to hire.

well, on the plus side my favorite director recently put out a movie about facebook called the social network.
it's FAN
TASTIC.

YOU.
REBEL.
;)

Regardless of what people think, Fassbook, is useful for me anyway. It's a great way for keeping me in contact with my sister who lives 200 miles from me, who I hardly ever see, yes we talk on the phone, but Fassbook also allows me to see recent pictures of my niece aswell who I miss dearly, so whatever people may say Fassbook is a god send.

Don't like it but I use it because the people I speak to use it. Just like I still prefer snail mail but have to use electronic means because it's "the done thing".

I don't see how someone could take people seriously over Facebook things, I've had countless arguments with people over Facebook and in real life we just laugh it off. But I talk to people I barely talk to in real life over Facebook, although that's mainly because I live no where near them.

You... use paper?

Interesting...

I have never had an interest in facebook, myspace, twitter or any of that other crap. This right here is as close as I get to a social network.

No one can hate Facebook, it's just a way to keep in touch with people, people go over the top with it yeah but how can you hate it?

wait, you mean you aren't doing it to use fewer capital letters??
dude. you just killed part of me on the inside. weak.

That will never be the case. I'm a grammar nazi. One of the only times I will ever break the "official" rules of grammar will be to purposefully not capitalize certain words that I do not feel deserve to be proper nouns (such as facebook, france, nazi, and christianity). Suck it.
