Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Okay, how many of you are as excited about watching this flick as me? Granted that the first Fantastic Four film wasn't all that... well... fantastic... but I thought it was alright; fact is: I love movie adaptions of classic Marvel comic superheroes - even if they are crap. It's all about sentimental value... and stuff. ^_^

I'm afraid I am too young to get any sentimental value out of it, haha. But super hero movies are generally good, even more so if you don't know the comics - the differences won't bother you then!

I'm partially looking forward to it. As you have said, the first one wasn't that good, but I want to see if this is any better, and I'm hoping it is....cause it actually looks great. It seems, however, that most movie adaptions of comic books don't go over to well and the ones that are successful are the Superman, Spider-Man, and Batman films, and maybe also Daredevil. Still, I'm looking forward to this and hope it's not just a huge letdown.

:noexpression: Actually, I found that movie to be rather enjoying. Since it's actually a Tribute movie to Christopher Reeve's "Superman" movies/character. As opposed to Batman Begins, which was a terrible flick in my opinion.

Well, might've been a good tribute, but as a movie it was awful, if you ask me. Haven't seen Batman begins, but if you ask me, Batman was best in those old school TV series with "BAM!" "BOFF" "PUNCH!" and Robin's lines like "Holy *something something* Batman!"

But uh yeah... back on topic: I hope for you that it won't be another crappy take on a good comic, Steve.

Just like when the Bond movies stopped being clever and are now just all-out action, alot of super hero movies fail to capture the true hero.

Well, might've been a good tribute, but as a movie it was awful, if you ask me. Haven't seen Batman begins, but if you ask me, Batman was best in those old school TV series with "BAM!" "BOFF" "PUNCH!" and Robin's lines like "Holy *something something* Batman!"

About Fantastic 4: I haven`t even seen any Marvel comics, but those old Marvel cartoons I can remember and I always love them. They bring back good memories and thats one reason I`m looking forward to the second movie. Yes, I agree, the first one wasn`t too good, but I still had to see it. Just for the "sentimental value".

I like the new "Hulk" movie so I think they`re not all bad.

Anyways, the Silver Surfer looks good as far as graphics go, but the Fantastic Four flying ship thingy....looks kind of lame. Just my opinion, but it could turn out to be cool , who knows.

I`m just so amazed how many good movies are coming this year (well, some of them are already here).

Still not seen the Fantastic Four after it had terrible reviews but i will watch it at some point before i watch Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Well I just came back from the theatre and I finally saw the film. I was originally went to go see Pirates 3 with a couple of friends, but when we got there the showing was sold old, so we went and saw Silver Surfer instead and...overall it was pretty good. This one had a lot more action and more of a storyline, per say, including better background and details. There were humorous lines here and there, and some were cheesy, but it was still an enjoyable movie. I definitely suggest seeing this film, even if you haven't watched the first one. All you need is a little synopsis of the first and your set for the second. I must say that the best character in the film (and this is just my opinion), was the Silver Surfer. He didn't have as much camera time as I thought (ok maybe he did), but his personality and presence made the film better. Anyways if I had to give this a rating I would probably give it a B+ to B-. Understand that of course they took some liberty and I won't spoil anything...so go see it. It's enjoyable and probably a basic comic hero movie with some good action, visual effects, humor...well you get the idea. Anyways sorry for the kinda...review, but thought I'd share what I thought of the movie.
