I am, but was specifically referring to Jpop from the 80s for that part. I often listen to Chinese, Korean, Japanese, usually from the 70s and 80s and if I'm in a special mood I'll throw on some Vietnamese.

Duuuude, you have no idea! I USED to idolize the sh*t out of him.. I mean, I still think he's amazing and one of my top 5 songs of all time is "Ocean" and I got to see it live. I cried, jizzed and bled out of my eyes all at the same time.

If you judge that by what constitutes as metal today, I don't blame you.

In fairness, what constitutes metal today isn't really 'metal', it's 'metalcore'.

As you probably know, it's supposed to be a blend of hardcore punk and heavy metal, but more often than not it comes out as cheesy emo stuff with a bit of screamed vocals.

There are some gems out there though... While She Sleeps and Parkway Drive, for example, are pretty good metalcore bands. Unless you're not into the whole screamy thing, in which case give them a miss.
