Favourite Controls?

Out of Fable and Fable 2, which controls do you like the most? I was interested in knowing this because when I first started playing Fable 2, I was suprised by the 'weird' controls but now I find them very easy to use and I love them! In fact, I must say that I've noticed that they've made strength orbs blue and the appropiate button blue, skill orbs yellow and the appropiate button yellow, and will orbs red and the appropiate orbs red - very neat!

I'll be looking forward to seeing your opinions. :)

Re: Favourite Controls?

The controls on Fable 1 were a lot more confusing. Fable 2 was simpler to use.

What has that got to with this topic?

Re: Favourite Controls?

the only thing i wouled say is you cant punch people in fable 2

Re: Favourite Controls?

the thing that bugged me in fable was having to draw my sword with one button, then use it with another. but in fable 2 you cant punch people wich really sucks because sometimes villagers bug me and need to be punched around a bit.

but all in all Id say fable 2 is alot smoother, but the magic system sucks big time compaired to fable. there really should just be a button to cycle through your spells befor you charge them. I hate having a spell line up.

it should be that with safety on, you punch villagers and dont pull your weapon out at all. punching should be just like using the slap expression, but you dont have to select it over and over you can just beat on a person. it wont kill them but is still considered mean and against the law. and magic should have no mixable line up, but you can quickly change what spell is selected befor you charge it. like, instead of changing spells in battle the same way you do when its paused, you just change the bottom spell and all the above spells change to that. and it should be quick and easy so you can do it in battle. like, switch to slow time, charge level 5 slow time, swap to enflame and cast level 5 enflame. but as it stands you either have to do level 4 slow time, then level 5 enflame, or take the time to pause and swap spells which really takes away fun.

Re: Favourite Controls?

Thanks for the opinions and your long post TJ Griffin although there's one thing I'd like to say. You said that you want to switch to level 5 time control and level 5 inferno? Change the bottom spell and press A; this copies the spell into all the slots above. Lionhead made you do that in case you wanted to have different spells in different slots if that suited your playing style.

Re: Favourite Controls?

It's quite hard to choose, actually, seeing as I like 'em both. But, after much consideration, I think I'd prefer the controls of Fale II to Fable. Why? Simply because they made the controls way easier to use -- in my opinion. I really like the spellselector of Fable II -- unlike Fable.

I'd have to agree with TJ; it's kind of silly that you cannot 'slap' people without actually hurting them heavily. I, however, do like certain features of control management, like the Safety option. It was quite annoying that I hurt people accidentally in Fable I, just by pressing one bloody button. Fortunately, Fable II is made like that, that it won't happen that easily anymore. Hurray!

So, as to give you a short answer, should you be lazy to read this bit of text; I voted for Fable II.

I have to say I agree with you DataHero. It's so annoying when you are walking in a forest helping all the traders who shouldn't even be there due to the danger by killing what threatens them and then accidentially hitting them with even a non-lethal arrow and them hating me after the fight. This is where I like to beat the crap out of them but not kill them becuase I want to sit back and let more monsters do it and not intervene and see how they like it or simply so that I can buy or sell of them.

Re: Favourite Controls?

i played fable 2 first. just started playing fable: tlc.

i'm finding the controls a little frustrating. run is B? what? the whole control setup for fable 2 is just easier and more intuitive. yeah, you can pick when to block, but... nailing those flourishes is sure a lot easier. having one button for melee and one for ranged and one for magic just makes sense.
