Final Fantasy 7 Plot holes. -.-

I've been playing some of the FF7 spin-offs and I don't understand some of these plot holes that have been left. For example: [spoiler alert]

In the end of Final Fantasy Crisis Core when Zack dies and Cloud takes the Buster Sword what is suppose to happen in between since Final Fantasy 7 starts out as cloud in doing a job with AVALANCHE and cloud is known as a Ex-Soldier, but cloud failed to join soldier since he was always a shinra troop.

and another one:

In the hidden CG of dirge of Cerberus, we find weiss lying on the ground in the cave, and genesis comes to get him... I don't understand this since in the end of Crisis Core genesis gets picked up by weiss and nero so then what happens? where was genesis through out final fantasy 7, nothing was mentioned about him

This is mainly why I hate spin-offs they always leave plot holes. -.-

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Plot holes. -.-

I don't see any of the plotholes that you've mentioned.

After Zack dies, Cloud wakes up to find him dying after being in a catatonic state for several hours beforehand. Zack gives Cloud the Buster Sword, and tells him that he is his 'Living Legacy'.

The Mako Poisoning as well as the huge trauma of seeing his best friend and role model gunned down by his own soldiers was too much for Cloud, and it caused him to mix his memories with that of Zack - this means that he thought he and Zack were one person. (As shown in Final Fantasy VII through all the confused flashbacks)

On the ride in the back of the truck, Zack was telling Cloud that they were going to escape to Midgard and become Mercenaries, 'doing odd-jobs' and whatnot. He emphasised that he would not give up, and that he would fight for both of their survival.

Thus, what Cloud did straight after he left Zack is - he took Zack's sword thinking it's his own and in a sort of trance walked all the way to Midgard. (It wasn't that far, as the place where Zack died overlooked it) On the way Cloud probably recovered from all the trauma and poisoning by convincing himself that he is Zack and then applied for an odd-job as a Mercenary - this brought him to Avalanche as a mercenary. i.e. The beginning of FFVII

Be patient about Genesis, the reason we don't know what Genesis was doing throughout FFVII is because he's a new character and they put him in the hidden CGI as a cliffhanger - to make Genesis fans wonder what he's been doing the whole time.

I need to remind you that being mysterious and having a cliffhanger does not mean it's a plothole - how does Genesis not being in FFVII have any affect over the rest of the storyline at all? It doesn't.

You may also have the timeline mixed up for the entire compilation:

1. Crisis Core
2. Before Crisis (Sort of mixes into the end of Crisis Core)
3. Last Order (A short anime film, detailing Zack escaping Shinra with Cloud)
3. Final Fantasy VII
4. Advent Children
5. Dirge of Cerberus
6. Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode

I hope I have cleared everything up, but feel free to continue asking questions regarding this subject.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Plot holes. -.-

Then why is Cloud still considered a former soldier member if he never became a soldier in the first place?

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Plot holes. -.-

He isn't - he just gets the title "EX-SOLDIER" at the beginning of the game, and then when the truth is revealed it isn't mentioned any more.

If you mean in fighting prowess, it is because after Sephiroth went crazy Professor Hojo took Cloud and Zack and did some inhumane experiments on them both, causing Cloud to suffer from intense Mako Poisoning - this is why his eyes shine the colour of Mako.

I knew about the Mako part, but I'm guessing I need to replay Final Fantasy 7 and I don't know if there's a way for me to get hold of before crisis.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Plot holes. -.-

Before crisis is unnecessary to the rest of the storyline in my opinion - you play as a bunch of nameless Turks who save the world from some summon Materia.

The only thing you really gain from that game is the reason why part of Midgar is destroyed at the beginning of FFVII.

What do you need to know which requires you to play through again? I could probably tell you if it isn't too specific.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Plot holes. -.-

Cloud was remembering things as if he were Zack at the beginning of Final Fantasy 7.

His memory was all confused.

What's hard to understand? >_>

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Plot holes. -.-

Okay I understand that, but I just read Crisis Core Ultimania.

and according to that, when genesis awakend. He rejected the offer to join Weiss and Nero and left them, he ended up sealing himself in the cavern that Lucrecia is suppose to be located. So wouldn't anybody notice him there when they say lucrecia in that cavern.
