Did the forums roll back? Everything suddenly seems out of date and many posts have gone missing.

Yeah, something no one seems to know anything about occurred earlier and resulted in the possibly permanent loss of a bunch of posts/threads/conversations/wall posts. Steve is currently discussing things with his host to see if anything can be done to get them back - it's an absolute pain in the backside though. Sorry to everyone for the inconvenience :(

Why did we switch to XenoForo again? It's such a piece of crap. vB is superior in every way. :|

I was at work when the error occurred so didnt see the message but from what ive heard i dont think it was anything to do with Xenforo it was host side i believe not the forum software. None of the other sites but this one seem to have suffered any loss or downtime and our other 2 sites im a part of use Xenforo. Steve has contacted our hosts but is awaiting a response. Same thing happened numerous times when we used vB too so that wasnt safe from it either.

XenoForo is the syphilis of the forum world. :|

I quite like it but hey syphilis comes from a usually enjoyable experience at the time so take the rough with the smooth.

Sharon also mentioned it here:

No, nothing like that has happened - there's been a forum-wide problem with the hosting company, it appears, and everything from about last saturday to this morning has been lost. Hopefully it can be recovered but Steve has been trying to sort this out for the last 7 hours or so...

So not 'syphilis' fault.

I don't care if it's syphilis' fault or not.

That doesn't change the fact that this deadly disease is easily curable by an awesome piece of software known as vB. vB is way more versatile than XF anyway.

lighten up everyone, we just need another thread about erectile dysfunction to get everything back on track! ^_^

so, who's gonna take one for the team? i would, but i prefer to keep my ED a secret......:shifty:

I do vaguely remember being upset at this sort of thing happening before.

I think because most everyone is familiar with vB, a lot of people will prefer it over others that are easier to use, prettier and have more functionality. That said, vB will definitely be preferred over something harder to use, not as pretty and has less functionality. I do like XenForo and I understand that there was a lot of considerations that went into making this change, but even with the way things were going, I still miss vB. But then I miss the first theme we had too, so... maybe I'm just being sentimental.

Ive only ever used vB before this too and yeah i understand why people miss it. It was easier to use in some aspects and ive totally had to relearn where everything is located and where all the new tools are and such which has made my job harder too. I used vB for about 8 years before using this and i was happy and comfortable with it but after the takeover they were never the same. vB itself as a forum software didnt change but the fact that so many things were no longer compatible with the newer versions and some people had stopped supporting it completely made it hard to use. Our skins no longer worked with the new versions and we had to keep compromising everything.

Xenforo has started to attract people to it so its functionality will get better with new plug-ins being designed for it and newer features coming in new builds. This is still an early version and 1.1 is coming soon according to Kier on their forums. If vB continues down the path its going and alienating people away from it then it will cease to exist eventually.

Ahh, that explains it, I thought I was in the wrong place.
Hope Steve gets it back, it was awesome, but then I could get used to this. :)
