When I'm bored, I usually find it enjoyable to wander Bowerstone market and listen to people talk. Sometimes you will find good deals, find new friends, help out newer players, and other stuff of the like.
Also, on the odd occurrence, sometimes you will hear someone being annoying, be it inane chatter or constant sounds. In this situation it becomes a scavenger hunt to find the culprit and mute him.
