actually if you do that quest when it first pops up, you can then do it again after you beat Lucien at least on the reg. version, i did!!

The tower can be a marital home; it's where I most often live. You cannot stop the bed from taking you to the Nightmare Hollow, however the downstairs bed doesn't do it. Only the bed at the top of the tower takes you to Nightmare Hollow. Since you must climb a ladder to access it, I don't believe your spouse would follow you up there anyway. You can sleep and have sex in the downstairs bed as normal.

why would your spouse not follow you up the ladder? my spouse followed me to bloodstone, and i didn't even use the follow expression. she just came to give me a gift

I have no idea why she won't, but she won't. I figured the ladder was a way to keep you from dragging your beloved into the Nightmare. Just like they won't follow you into water... she just stands at the base of the ladder, but maybe that's just her.
Also, your spouse should not follow you unless you tell her to, gift or no. It's a common glitch for spouses to go missing and/or later turn up in Bloodstone...
