Over at the official Gears of War 3 portal, Epic Games has revealed details and images of new weapons coming to the forthcoming sequel, including an insanely powerful double-barrel shotgun.

Marcus and company will also be able to pilot the COG Silverback Mech, complete with arm-mounted mini-guns. Once your ammo has run out you can still batter enemies senseless with crushing melee attacks. The COG will also enjoy the brutal 'One-Shot' sniper rifle, Pendulum Wars Lancer, double-barrel shotgun and devastating multi-turret.

The Locust also get an upgrade with the rather nasty-looking Digger Launcher, which fires a ravenous insect attached to explosives. The termite-like creature then digs through surfaces and detonates in a horrible mess.

I'm not super thrilled about the Silverback Mech thing... but I do like the sound of the new revamped sniper rifle and the 'Pendulum Wars Lancer'.
