Gears of War 3 rumours "Rubbish"

Heres something I found on eurogamer

Epic's Mark Rein has dismissed suggestions the studio is already working on a third instalment in the Gears of War series.
When asked whether the rumours are true, Rein told Eurogamer, "Total nonsense."
As reported by CVG, the rumours appear in this month's issue of US magazine EGM. Word is it'll feature five-player co-op and be out in time for Christmas 2010.
Word from Mark Rein is that's rubbish, though. "We're still working on improvements to Gears 2," he said. Someone should probably tell them it's already out.

Thats weird as CVG says is being worked on right now.

Work on Gears of War 3 is already well underway at developer Epic Games, claims a rumour in the latest issue of US mag EGM.
According to the mag the third game, which is surely inevitable after the titanic sales of the first two, will be with us for Christmas 2010. What's more, it'll feature a new "five player co-op experience", which we assume means co-op in the main campaign.

It all sounds like a big fan wishlist at this point, but EGM also claims that Epic has a multiplatform horror game in development, a rumour that's already done the rounds once or twice before and could be likely.

Either way, it's looking like the next few years could be busy for old Epic. It's got to do something with all of that Unreal Engine money, after all...

That's a shame. Although, I'd take anything developers say with a pinch of salt. For one, Sony will swear blind that any rumours about any future products are not true, one example being how they denied any new models of PSP coming out. They denied the rumours vehemently until, well, the same day they announced a modified version of the PSP coming out.

Same goes for Microsoft. The PR and marketing departments will promise and promise that no new 360 hardware revisions are planned EVER. And what happens? 360s start being shipped with modified CPUs, GPUs, larger hard drives and even HDMI-output support.

I may have been a little inaccurate above, but my point is that you needn't always believe what you read. Despite Mark Rein saying what he said, I know I've read different statements from Gears of War's Lead Designer, Cliffy B, implying that Gears of War 3 is very much a reality. Of course you could argue that "implying" is not the same as confirming but, still, c'mon.

I don't think Gears of War 3 would be bad at all, the first two rocked, and the third will probably be just as good. But as Steve said, everyone just denies everything until it finally happens.

There is a book out about what happens after GoW2, I made a thread about it somewhere. So if there isn't going to be a game coming out about it, at least you can find out what happens!

The book is good - but I honestly don't know how they'd progress game-wise based on the events of Jacinto's Remnant. Maybe if they made a prequel of sorts...but judging by the content of the gears book, they'd be hard-pressed to continue in the same vein as they have been so far, IMO.
