I've said it to two people. Once, in a bullcrap relationship where both of us knew it didnt mean anything. One of those school things where she sais: "hey, lets be boyfriend and girlfriend!" Me: "sure, whatever" and she calls me baby and tells me that she loves me all the time and I say "I love you too" back. A few weeks later she decided to break up with me in favor of a hotter guy with a nicer car. The secound one I said it to, I meant it. But that relationship went down the drain too.

So, have I said it? Yes. Have I been succesfull? No.

I told her I loved her, she said she wanted to be friends, 3 months later I date this chick, all the sudden she becomes jealous, the relationship didn't work out (I didn't dump her, it was legit) and I asked her out, she accepted, a month later she says she loves me, I say I love you too... We break off due to her parents are noticeing, about 6 months later she claims we never dated and that she never said she loved me. 4 months later, enter the present, I am in my rant thread position.

I don't use the phrase lightly (unless I'm being sarcastic or obviously joking). I told Steve I loved him by accident - I was half asleep and the second I said it, he says "do you? really?" and my eyes snapped open and my first thought was "oh crap what did I just say/agree to/deny?" and then it registered and I realised I meant it. Just as well really...:lol:

I say I love you to my kid but I don't say it to anyone else. Not family, not friends - no one. Just how I am, I guess...

As a phrase, it's hugely overused. People say they love all kinds of things, people, places etc - so that it becomes meaningless.

I told my last girlfriend I loved her. Nothing seemed to change, but after we broke up, I realized how ****ty our relationship was, and that I didn't love her at all. I don't even know why I said it, and I'm just kind of ****ed off at myself for saying it. All I can say is make sure you mean it, or you could regret it later.
