Goodbye, PE

So... you're going to be safe, right? Just polishing your little shiny buttons and looking pretty for a few months?

Because I want you to come back, kk? And bring something hideously Estonian as a souvenir. And don't do what I did the last time I was at a firing range and manage to shoot yourself whilst pointing the rifle in the opposite direction. Dunno how I did it but I did.

Although I'm sure they won't be giving you ball bearings to shoot with...

Obligatory military service? I know people who have been through it (though you probably more, since it exists where you live). All the Israeli camp counselors at Jewish summer camp had served their required 3 years. Also this Serbian kid my brother knew.

Anyway, as long as you don't get caught up in any conflicts you'll be fine. Make the most of it. We hope you don't get hazed!

Ok I got a little more time now (and not a stupid smartphone to type on).

It seems like the lot I came in with have it easy. We get to keep our phones, though we can obviously only use them in the right places at the right times. We can't be physically "motivated" aka they can't make us do push ups. We get to watch the news sitting down. Maybe something more, can't remember atm.
Apparently there were too much crying about sons being "tortured" and getting sick so the higher ups had to tone things down. Or the higher ups themselves have become too lazy so they changed some rules they would ave to follow themselves.
next week will be easier hopefully. M14 and... well, how to say it, honorary guard or royal guard training. So far all three exams have gone well - max points - if I can make the weapon exams and weapon exams on max points as well I could get out for a weekend earlier.

Otherwise it's mostly cleaning and standing up straight.

Is this going to be legit-camping, or Bear Grylls-camping where you actually just go back to a 5* hotel once the cameras are turned off?

This is the Estonian military. Those bitches is hardcore. When they go camping, they go camping.

One twig and a scrap of saran wrap for the entire platoon. That's all they're issued.

They'll be drinking their own **** in no time.

Mmm... this time it wasn't that bad. I mean I got around 5 hours of sleep in total during those 4 days. Patrols and putting up that nasty tent in the rain... And random alarms during the night - you know, you're finely asleep and then they scream some stuff (or some dude starts shooting witha a machine gun) and we have to run to our defensive positions. Last night it was, how to say it, the final, most extreme alarm when we had to pack all our things and eventually sleep under "tent capes" (dierct translation), they are basically rain capes we use for everything but wearing.

Well the good news is my kidneys are not very bad.
The bad news is I don't actually now if they are totally fine. So from now on I have to see the nephrologists every 6 months to check.
The other bad news is my knee(s) are/is... I don't know, it hurts like hell. I'll see the doctor tomorrow and she'll tell me how and if I'll continue my service.
