GTA format for Fable III?

Does anyone agree that an ENTIRELY open-world would be most suited for the third in the series?

Now, I obviously don't mean that this would ensue missons such as smuggling cocaine into Bowerstone, or pimping out Bloodstone harlots, but just the overall feel of GTA.

Maybe being able to drive a coach through the countryside, or sail a ship across the ocean.

Just that free, do-what-the-hell-you-effing-like feel of the GTA series.
^_^

Like Oblivion?

Naaah.

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

Yeah, it wouldn't really fit in. Fable is about good storytelling, and getting constantly sidetracked by meaningless tasks wouldn't really suit it imo.

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

Well, I've never played Oblivion, but of course the good story telling would still be in place.

But GTA allows a player to soley focus on story missions, but also gives a player the freedom to take part in secondary activities.

Fable II obviously tries to recreate this, to a lesser extent, with the job minigames, assassination jobs etc, but still (not as well as TLC however in my opinion) keeps that mystical, storybook Fable feel that we all know and love.

I think that would be great! And I think they should make the world bigger, the regions are too small. Less loading screens would be great too.

And how about more towns inside of regions? Like Bowerstone Market could have a road into Bower Lake and you walk for a minute or two and get in a new town.

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

I would like to be able to fly through the landscape haha..

Maybe a silly steampunk helicopter created by Barnum's grandson?

And would also like to see the rest of Bowerstone, different districts; just like GTA.

I agree. Fable TLC had a much better atmosphere in terms of storytelling imo, and I would hate to see what little of that which is left is lost in Fable 3. It would be a shame, which is why I think GTA should remain GTA, and why Fable should remain Fable.

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

Fable should always have separate regions. Fable 2's system was better than the one in TLC because it allowed you to walk around one whole region without having to load in order to get to a different part of that region. This should be the case in Fable 3 as well. However, I would like more open areas within the regions, especially if they were to add horses. Not every part of the region has to contain something significant.

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

its possible. After all, there will be more technology, we have seen coaches submarines and ships. Whos to say you cant drive one in the near future? I was also curious about more freedom. I mean after work, the people of albion just go to the bar and drink. I would like to see something like a lottery ( another add on to gambling) a circius, maybe traveling market ( like a curio traveling market) or a place that sells curses and stuff like that. It would be cool to add more creepy mage stuff. Like the skull of shame, target someone with this and they become less popular or something i dunno

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

I'd like to have your normal Will abilities but also have a spell book kind of like what Little Sparrow said.

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

Smuggling cocaine into Bowerstone would be awesome.

But I think PM should try to make it as sandbox as he can. He tried to do that with Fable II, and took a tiny step in the right direction, but that wasn't nearly far enough.

I'd rather it be more dynamic, though. He tried to make Fable II more dynamic than the first, but it ended up being a few planned and obvious decisions. Things like Bowerstone Old Town turning either rich or poor, the Westcliff upgrade, Gile's farm, etc. They weren't dynamic, it was a two answer thing which could have been planned, and happened suddenly (but the convenient spire quest makes it ten years). I'd like to see more fluid change.

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

I rather like the idea of pimping out bloodstone harlots. ^_^

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

^^ so do i, i also like the idea of smuggling drugs

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

Haha, kinda defeats the object of a 'fairytale storybook'.

Well, maybe it's an R rated storybook!

Haha, to be honest, I think GTA in a late-classical European era would be immense.

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

Completely open world wud be frickin sweet but in all honesty I don't think the Fable series will ever be a free roaming open world game :(

Re: GTA format for Fable III?

A fable sand-box game would be too hard for LionHead to make worth anything, even with a good story, they're just too....different
