I Told my mom and she said it was because it took 25 years to get the gangs out and stuff and 'clean' up the city.. i dont agree with her tho

"When you look at other forms of entertainment, how many movies, books, and TV shows use New York City as a setting for their stories?" he asked.

"There's a lot of stuff out there that's pretty over the top, and doesn't put New York in the best light," Della Rocca added. "They don't complain about that, yet when a game depicts similar incidents as movies in a similar setting, they're up in arms."

They can try all they want, but GTA IV's not going anywhere except the store shelves on release. And no matter how much they try, they always look dumb in the end when the game is finally out, and everything they said was gonna happen, doesn't happen. But yeah, most people just blame the video games for their negative actions, just so they can get off easy. Only thing i can see someone picking off/learning from a game like GTA, is just the language and the attitudes of various characters in the game...nothing else.

The video games and such entertainment slowly replace the mass media. TV is ads, false news and serials. People dont like TV that much anymore, they prefer video games. Newspapers are just false news, ads and wrong weather prognosis.
More and more people think like that and dont trust the medias. And the medias blame games for violence because older generations will belive this b......t. The terrorists, gangsters and serial killers dont play cs, wow or gta. When I play gta I kill people, but in reality Ill think of the consequences before I do something I did in gta. Most people will do. But there are people which play games and want to kill in real life, and one day when they murder someone this is not because of the games they play. Its easy, to blame a game and discard other reasons, for the mass media, they are kings of that art.

Excellent points! Every form of mass media has been blamed for the ills of society. I don't think that they cause kids or adults to go on shooting sprees. Overall I do want people to take video games more seriously. They are not just games they are amazing works of art. Incredible masterpieces worthy of the same accolades of a best selling novel, a prized painting, or a motion picture classic. What will be very interesting to see is if/when video games overtake broadcast media as the primary form of public consumption.
