Re: Guns in Fable: What do you think?

That' exactly what me and my brother have been saying!Less powerful, and no locking on whatsoever!(And I really do hope the crossbow makes a return in Fable III) Also, I know it's too late to change this, but they shouldn't have had semi-auto guns either, plus how fast the guns reload is ridiculous!

Re: Guns in Fable: What do you think?

I was expecting fable 3 to be in the middle of brooklyn, with a hero using a lead pipe and a 9.

The time difference between 1 and 2 was huge with new innovations (guns) so i expected a future fable haha

Re: Guns in Fable: What do you think?

When I start seeing ak-47's I'm not buying anymore Fable.

The time jump from the first to the second was pretty big but the guns are very primitive and while they may have slight improvements in the fifty years between the second and third game, they certainly won't be anything close to "a 9".

Oh wow, thanks for stealing another thing I said man. You're real cool.

Why would they add crossbows in Fable III? Lionhead is making the game somewhat historically accurate so it's only natural for the bow and crossbow to have gone out of style. Besides, they pale in comparison to guns and if you tried using a crossbow against a gun in real, even one from an early era, you'd end up dead.

Actually, the guns loaded somewhat slowly until you leveled up Speed at which point it was still a bit fast but also slightly reasonable. After all, with enough practice, you can speed-load any gun and in fact, most modern guns come with devices intended to help speed up the loading process.

I will agree that the guns fired way too fast. As interesting as it was, it was unrealistic which seems to contradict Lionhead's attempt at making it all as accurate as possible. Hopefully they've changed that in Fable III.

Oh I'm sorry I was really just reading the first post I hadn't noticed.

Re: Guns in Fable: What do you think?

I think another reason why guns were so popular was that you only became tall (and even slimmer) when you upgrade speed.
If you do strength, you just look like a neanderthal. An overgrown Hulk or something. I tried to make like a melee female character for a while until she started looking overly buff and it just looked wrong. no offense if any.
If you went magic, it can get cool with the will lines but you also grow older.

Ultimately, guns (skill and speed related) were OP in fable 2

I believe it was accuracy that made you taller.
With my female character in FII, I didn't bother increasing her strength or accuracy passed level 2, so she didn't look like "An Overgrown Hulk", and also added a bit of a challenge (sort of) by retarding her ability

Re: Guns in Fable: What do you think?

I know they are adding revolvers but all I ask is that it would be the kind that you have to pull the hammer back before you fire a shot just to make the fire-rate fair.

Uh... I don't think anyone actually enjoyed becoming a tall freak of nature, I know I certainly did not. Will never prematurely aged you in any game. You aged in the first one by leveling up your skills and... I have no idea how you aged in Fable II. I mean, the Spire helped ten years go by and there was the chance of becoming an old man/woman so that Reaver may stay young but aside from that, I don't really know.

I do know that Will has never had anything to do with it and prematurely aging in Fable III from using magic is nothing more than a rumor that has never been confirmed. I realize that casters get screwed over constantly but I don't think Lionhead is dumb enough to pull something like that. I'm sure they know that it would put people off from ever using spells.

Will lines were always great and they looked much better in Fable II but I would have preferred if they had a design to them or if you could change them into a design like a tattoo. That would have been great but I guess we won't be seeing them anymore. Although, I did hear that having tattoos in Fable III and using magic will cause the tattoos to glow like a pseudo-Will line.

You're talking about a single-action revolver and there have been several people who have been able to fire them at incredible speeds.

I agree. I played as a female character and originally was all about melee and magic. But when my character started looking like a man, I switched over to magic as a primary with guns for range and melee as a last resort when I was being ambushed.

As for guns in Fable 3, to me just seemed like the natural progression of time. It wouldn't really make sense for them to set Fable 3 in the dawn of the industrial age without guns making a bigger presence

Re: Guns in Fable: What do you think?

Honestly, I would prefer they keep both crossbows and the old bows. I know they're unconventional, but I still bet it would be easier for a guy to get a bow than a freakin rifle, and honestly, there are still people today that use bows for hunting. I want to stealth kill.
But guns, I like them. I always had fun with that legendary turret rifle, and I can remember many a day I spent doing nothing but slaughter bowerstone with that baby.
But yeah, strength characters are just WAY too bulky, like they're doing super-steroids or something.

Modern bows are much more advanced than the simple pieces of wood they had way back when. Of course, some people do still use the primitive bows to hunt but I'd say less than 10% do it. Easier to get a bow than a rifle? No. Guns are easily mass produced, not so much the same for bows and if they were, they would be of terrible quality and not worth using.
