everyones always on about how theyre parents dont like them drinking, my familys ace we live in a big house ace cars awsome stuff and they dont give a damn if i drink and im 13 just today i asked me mum to go out and get some larger know what she said??? "ok"

Not really. More like a uhm... folklore tradition. It isn't a christian thingy atleast, I think the farmers and peasants did it to celebrate sprind and summer, aswell as to "scare away evil spirits and creatures", like witches and trolls.

Same here... The Northern Lands are all the same.
Party on, we also have Valborg, wohoo, but with a different name.
Don`t know what it is actually but its something to do with witches and stuff, a foreign tradition and don`t have any idea why it`s celebrated here.
And guess what, alcohol is not sold anywhere until the 3th of May. So no underage drinking, heheee, suckers...

I get done for ID for cigarettes...I'm nearly 25 and the minimum age is 16...and I look about 105...

w00t! Happy fricking Valborg! At first when I glimpsed this thread, I thought Tsuyu had gone crazy and started naming his own holidays, but either way, it's pretty interesting. However, does getting drunk and lighting huge fires really make a good combination?

Hmmm... I suddenly want to move to Sweden, just for this holiday. I mean, sure, we get to blow things up on the Fourth of July, but doing so on your own is illegal in Maryland. Ah, hell, screw technicalities. I blow things up anyway. On New Year's and Halloween and any other excuse, too.

I'm a pyro too - course, you don't get much opportunity when you're attempting to bring up le kiddies to not play with le fire...
And before we get into a whole drinking/smoking slanging match, let's just say we'll agree to disagree and hand out fluffy bunnies to each other rather than get all stressy about it.

I've had enough arguing for one day with my dad over whether or not Maryland would have tried to secede in the Civil War if they hadn't suspended the writ of habeas corpus, occupied Baltimore, and arrested 27 seccessionist members of the General Assembly in addition to miscellaneous other seccessionists. Personally, I think we would have either stayed or torn ourselves apart in our own Maryland Civil War, but dad thinks we would've turned traitor.
