I remembered a short story I read in school but I can't remember the name... Please help.

The main character gets into a ship wreck and swims to an island where some guy gives him a place to stay but then forces the main character to go out into the island with a few days head start, then he starts hunting the main character... Sorry but it was a long time ago. Please help I'm craving this story :'(
