Re: Help Me With My Project!!!
1. Is it possible to get the flu from the flu shot?
Yes, if the virus isn't weak enough.
2. Can you get sick or die from drinking too much water?
Yes, it has happened recently when a radio station had a contest who could drink the most water without peeing. One person died and three lost their jobs.
3. Where is the stomach located? How would you make the gesture for having a sore stomach? (where would you point on your body?)
Stomach. Point at your sternum. move to the bottom. It's around in there. The common gesture is to rub one's belly, lower than the actual stomach.
4. How do antibiotics work? How long should you take them for and why?
Take them no longer than 2 weeks. Most antibiotics will boost your white blood cell count to fight off disease. However, most OTC medicines simply fight the symptoms not the actual disease letting the body do the work without the side effects of the body working. Benadryl is, disputedly, the "Cure All" of the OTC world. (OTC-over the counter)
5. How long could one live without food? Without water?
food: 2 weeks to 2 months really depends on fat storage and over-all health.
6. Which of the following is a stimulant? Alcohol, Ibuprofen, Chocolate.
Chocolate is the stimulant from what I can remember.
7. What does it mean to have a high tolerance to a substance? Could a person become immune to the effects of alcohol, for instance?
Tolerance is the tolerance of the effect not the actual poisoning. When you drink you are poisoning your body. The more you drink the more your body can cope with it. The larger you are the more you body absorbs the poison, not allowing it to effect you as much. Such as, a poisonous spider can kill a man but not an elephant.
8. Is there such a thing as "good fat" and "bad fat"?
Its all about the rate of which your body can burn it and how much your body can aborb before you pass it through. Eat fish and chicken, it is better than the red meats.
9. Can you catch a cold from going outside in the cold with no jacket, or wet hair? Long explanation, No. It isn't the temperature that makes you sick.
10. Is it harmful to the baby for a woman to engage in sexual activity while pregnant?
Third trimester yes. Other than the chance of mis-carraige or STD not really before the tird trimester. No the male cannot Directly Physically effect the unborn child. (Dancing around words there) There is a chance of causing pre-mature birth.
11. Can you get lead poisoning from a pencil?
Pencils are now made from graphite, a much more readily available and cheaper material.
12. What is a Naturopathic Doctor and how are they different than a Medical Doctor? Or are they not different at all?
If your refering to an herbal doctor or a medical doctor than I can answer this. The drugs are the same in the sense that they both medicinally heal you. However, Herbal supplements, generally, have less side effects but usually less potency. A medical doctor will use more synthetic materials which hold more potency and hold side effects that may be extreme when the drug is first released but will slowly become more patient friendly as the medicine's advancement continues. Overall, Aspirin from either side is Aspirin.
13. What is the difference between naturopathic remedies and pharmaceutical remedies?
See-above.
14. What do you believe to be the ideal weight for a woman of my height and age? (5 foot 9, 23)
Medical reccomendation is 129-169lbs. the idealistic average weight for that age is 119 Better Ideal Weight Body Calculations
15. Do you trust your Health practitioner, and are you honest with them at all times?
It is usually the fear of knowing that there is something wrong that keeps people from being honest. Personally, I am honest with them.
