Hide And Seek.
The suttle sounds of dogs barking and police sirens seemed to echo through the sreet. The night was late going into early morning, but I was still walking home. The major problem with living so far away from the city center is when the buses stop you have to walk home. The street was empty and dark, the houses were all run down, boared up windows, cracked windows, houses sealed up and ones without doors, there was only one car and that was burnt out at the top of the street. I was walking slowly when i heard a noise behind me, I picked up the pace and turned around to see what it was, there was nothing there. I calmed down and slowed down abit, when i heard the noise again but closer, it sounded as if someone was running up behind me. Once again i picked up the pace and turned around but once again there was no one there, I decided i would jog home anyway.
20 minutes i was at the top of my street, i hadn't heard the foot steps after the last time; out of breath i decided to walk the last leg of my journey. I made to my front door when i heard the running again, i turned and was knocked over by an unknown figure running past, I landed straight on my back dropping my keys as i fell. I quickly got to my feet incase the person who'd knocked me over was going attack me however when i stood up and looked around he was no where in sight, i picked up my keys and opened my front door, to see a very angry Shirley waiting for me.
"What time d'ya call this?"
"About half 5 why what the hell do you call it?"
"ha ha, im laughing my arse off." She said looking as though she was about to rip my heart out. "You've been out boozing again havn't you? well your not coming in this house drunk" she said folding her arms.
"Look, I'm not drunk I actualy had nothing to drink we just went for a meal." I said hoping i wouldn't have to sleep on the street again.
"Fine then, say the alphabet backwards" She said looking horrificly seriouse.
"Look" I said " I can't do that, drunk or sober"
She was looking at me as though i had just insulted her mother, shot her father then desecrated her grandparents graves. "well you better come in then aint ya" She said walking away. I walked in and was hit by the wonderful smell of bacon sizzling in the pan, I took off my shoes and threw my coat into the living room and walked into the kitchen. Shirly was cooking bacon, I walked up to her and wrapped my arms around her "I'm sorry babe, guess i just lost track of time." I said then kissed her on the cheek, she turned round and faced me.
"I can't stay mad at you" she said then kissed me passionatly. I went and sat down at the table picking up yesterdays newspaper.
"you havn't got todays newspaper have you?" i asked forgetting what time it was.
"It's 5:30 in the morning, tell me what shops open at five?" She replied in a slightly sarcastic tone.
"Tony's round the corner opens at six, I'll nip round then, you want anything?" I asked slightly drowsy from lack of sleep. She simply shook her head and walked out of the kitchen. Shirly one hell of a women, i was so glad to call her mine, her light brown hair seemed to shine in the sunlight, her bright blue eyes always dragged me in and that smile was enough to melt me like butter. I put the kettle on and placed my mobile phone on the counter, I was fortunate enough to own a tiffal kettle so my tea was done with in seconds, as i threw spoon into the sink my phone went off I had just recieved a text message.
I placed the cup of tea on the side and picked up the phone. "who'd phone me at this time?" I asked myself very puzzled. I flipped up my phone and checked who it was from, it was a private number, I read the texted and was even more confused. "The grass is green, the sky is blue, everybodies out, except for you"
