Re: Hollywoods monsters

If you want ridiculous...consider that Hollywood had also given us "The Killer Shrews...."

The Killer Shrews - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In typical old monster movie fashion...the producers spared no expense regarding the special effects for this movie. ;)

Wait...whaaa...you mean dogs dressed up in animal skins don't look like shrews???

I'll get your shawl and you can sit in your rocking chair and play Halo 3 :P

Re: Hollywoods monsters

Hey! Old people don't get to play Halo 3 before us young'uns! Gimme that controller!

Though I've gotta say, the ripe old age of 23 (unless your profile is off) is not exactly old. You only have five years on me, after all. You just have some really weird (by which I mean esocteric, things many/most of the rest of us haven't seen) taste.

... weird taste? O.o that may be, but I didn't mention any of them here...
I didn't say I liked the movie... in fact, I said I hated it... I only said that I had seen it... and the fact that most here, including yourself, were not even born when it was made is the reason I felt old...

Re: Hollywoods monsters

Hmmm... by "weird taste" I meant that you had seen a movie few others here had. So what, you saw this movie when you were four or when you were five (Later Edit: Or when you were six)? Or did you manage to remember it from earlier?

Actually, now I don't even remember what movie is being spoken of... I'm going to guess it was the Chud one, and if you're 23 then... well, according to Wikipedia (which is admittedly fallible) you weren't born then either-- you were born a year later.

"C.H.U.D. an acronym for "Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller" was a 1984 B horror movie produced by Andrew Bonime, and directed by Douglas Cheek with Peter Stein as the director of photography."

Though you were, apparently, born for the sequel, in... 1988, it says.

Wait a minute, what am I talking about? (Why I'm talking about I also don't know.) 23 is seven years older than me... huh? Oh, no it's six... yeah, six, assuming you were born 1984... ah... I am so confused. But okay, you were born for its release, probably. For some reason I was thinking 1985, but 23 is six, not five years older than I. Did you see the sequel? The first seems a bit ahead of your horror-movie time... definitely that age was way ahead of my horror-movie time, which has not yet been reached.

PS Tsuyu-- the "Mothman" I was talking about (from what I can remember) was also the one which occupies most of the Wikipedia article, the one in West Virginia. Mothman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

all I meant is that I don't understand how having seen a movie counts as weird taste... I don't see what it has to do with my taste at all... I hate that movie... if hating chuds is weird, then are you saying that everyone else loves chuds? O.o... the fact that I have seen a movie has nothing to do with my personal taste... I saw a pigeon steal someone's french fries once... is that weird taste too, just cause I saw it? O.o

as for my "horror movie time", I never said I saw it the day it came out... you got that from I don't know where... I said that I felt old because people hadn't been born when it came out and I had... making me older... it's just simple math... and my mother took me to see Bram Stoker's Dracula with her in theatres when I was 6... so my "time" was fairly early anyhow...

Re: Hollywoods monsters

What??? You don't love Chuds??? I thought everyone loved Chuds! They're just like big, sweet, furry, man-eating puppy dogs! [Grin]

I couldn't come up with a better word/phrase than "weird taste". How else could I put it, I ask you? I, for instance, would not have seen it if it came out today. So from my view, it would have been weird to do so.

And I was just asking, essentially, if YOU were born when it came out. I wasn't sure.

And-- yeesh. Seeing Dracula at six. At six, Jurassic Park scared the crap out of me. Of course, I don't know how frightening the movie was, though the book Dracula, when I tried to read it a couple weeks ago, was mind-numbingly boring, dragged on and on, and I couldn't finish it. So maybe that wouldn't have scared me... but I doubt I'd be so lucky.
