I want to start a co-op game but....

I've heard rumors of online co-op being very buggy. I remember someone saying that they made a henchmen in someone else's world and instead of all the gold and exp carrying over to their original hero it instead reset the original heroes gold and exp and replaced it with the exp and gold the henchmen hero earned.

Can anyone confirm if it is actually detrimental to my character to play on-line co-op?

They have a few bugs in coop, which I am sure they are working on. I haven't lost any gold, or my friends that I know of? I have lost an item or two, but other than that it's a whole lot of fun with the right friends.
