When I try to play vids on the internet (like the one in my sig) it plays about 5 seconds and stops for about a minute and then plays a couple more seconds why cant I play the vids straight through do I need special software.

Sounds like a bandwidth issue check to see if you have any updates running in the background

Try that and also try clearing your internet cache and temporary internet files. Also make sure you have latest flash and plugin downloads for your internet browser.
