Is playig computer games these days a obsession or a hobby

I was wonderig what is everyones take on games Is it self obsession or is it just a hobby because I personally think that it is an obsession and a hobby to me. Everyone says that im to old for playing computer games (well everyone in my family thinks that) so what am I ment to do, do I just quit after 11 years of playng through the Mega Drive the Nitendo 64, Dreamcast PS1 and 2, game cube, Nitendo DS, Wii and X-Box and X-Box 360 I beleive it will be a bit hard to quit than everyone thinks and at College my Eglish examiner wanted to make me wright about sports and I told her that I am not into sports and she kicked me out for saying I dont like Sports im lucky that my English exam was not on today but that was apart of an assigment needed for me to pass the course that im doing.

But I want to know whet you people think gaming is about is it an obsession or hobby

To me gaming has become a way of life. I am at my computer almost every waking moment. Even before I tried FableTLC I spent 80 percent of my time playing some kind of computer game. I am a unique case in that I do not work and can no longer do any of my other more physical hobbies any more, but before I was disabled I spent at least two hours a night playing computer games after work.

its both to me. seeing as i was introduced to games since i was still an embryo, its become almost second nature to me. theres so much to do in games that many people couldnt do in real life. its also a great way to kill time, and thats a plus. yes, theyre just that awesome

Its more just a natural thing to do to kick back and relax so in a sense its a very fulfilling hobby. Without games there wouldnt be that much to do around where i live and id probably spend more time in the pub to save myself from boredom. The next few weeks without my 360 are going to be torture as im used to playing it quite a lot. :lol:

I think it can become an obsession in the unhealthy sense if certain personalities and dispositions are not careful. When you are turning down the chance to interact with real people as opposed to shooting the virtual ones in the head or whatever, you might want to check that you are balancing reality with gaming, particularly if your family and friends are suffering because of your inability to turn the computer off.

I know what it is like to be stuck in the house all the time and all I would do is be on a computer of sorts. Partly because my work revolved around it (and still does) but also because I like to play games and be able to forget my crap for a while...so it's more than a hobby for me but it's not an obsession or addiction of any kind. I just enjoy it and also like freaking guys out who try to talk patronisingly to me about certain games and then can't say a word once they've realised I'm not only further in game than them but I'm actually better :lol:

really depends on how much you play. if you play 1-2 hours i think its ok. but like 6-8 hours per day youre more obsessed. no offense to all those who does play 6-8 hours per day.

Gaming is just a hobby of mine. I play for a couple of hours a day, usually. Sometimes more and sometimes hardly at all. In fact, I've recently become a big of a gaming-snob and find that hardly any games genuinely keep me entertained for more than 30 minutes. Pretty much the only game I play nowadays is Call of Duty 4 for the Xbox 360 because I can play that over Xbox LIVE with my friends and have a great laugh.

Shame they don't make games like they used to - that's what I say! I still love all of my old Sega Mega Drive games, especially Shining Force... Great game.

For me it's just as normal to play on a 360. I love this computer game called, " Free Style Street Basketball ". I play a lot, but it's a hobby.

It's a hobby for me. If there's something better to do around involving people, I do it. I haven't gotten out much lately but I intend to change that shortly

It's not so much how much time you play them, it's how much time you don't play them. Six to eight hours is too much only if you don't spend the rest of the time doing other important things ;-)
