I am yet to be convinced that Bioware are as good as everyone reckons they are...I've no doubt I'll probably change my mind in time but so far they aren't all that special - ambitious, but nothing exceptional ;)

You will be convinced otherwise very soon i dont doubt that, simply best RPG creators in the business period. Also been hailed as the best in the business by the 4 top RPG designers and companies including Lionhead and Peter Molyneux. :neo:

Also Bioware didnt make KotOR II i just suggested it as its a good game. =]

Re: Jedi or Sith

I know they didn't make the second one - but I wasn't sure whether unless I played the first one there would be any point in trying out the second...

Like I said, maybe in time I'll change my mind but right now no matter who has hailed them as the best, they haven't lived up to the hype as far as I am concerned. I'm just difficult to please, I suppose :D

Well if you can name me an RPG creator that puts you in the shoes or lets you play the role of the character to the extent they do or is anymore detailed than in a Bioware game id let you off. I dont see what more they can do to smash all other RPG games to pieces to impress you.

Ive played a hell of a lot of RPG's but no RPG game ive had has come close to some of their revolutionary ideas. Bioware pull off things that other RPG creators would love to be able to, much like Fable with the morality choices. If they could do them anywhere near Biowares standards they would be happy.

Re: Jedi or Sith

you sound as if I'm trying to un-convert you

Graphically, I prefer the detail of Assassin's Creed - Mass Effect (for an example) is lacking, for me, in detail...it's a personal preference thing and I'm not slating Bioware, if that's what you're driving at. I've even said I will probably change my mind in time, but for now I need a little more convincing.

Perhaps I just prefer a less complex and less overly-ambitious RPG system? I don't see what's wrong with that =]

Im tired of simplified RPG's with basic systems, i want games that require some thinking and games that dont treat me like a kid. Add to that amazing depth and multiple playthroughs and customisation like no other and you have Mass Effect. :neo:

The combat system was a gamble but once your used to it, it works damn well. They also took a gamble with the combat in KotOR and was a weird system to explain to people but again once you got your head around it, it was awesome. Graphically Bioware have never been huge on that, however the speech cutscenes are amazing (in mass effect). Assassins Creed is a simple game system overall and can have that massive detail as its that it relies on with its freedom. Its not that i thought you were trying to unconvert me, just ive seen lots of people slate games that have to much detail such as a guy on Bioware forums complaining Mass Effect has to much story and he couldnt be bothered to go through it or learn things. The same people that just want simple games that are just way too easy and have no depth and keep companies churning these mindless games out. Then they say that games that are just hack and slash and simple concepts are better than games such as Mass Effect and games like that do not impress them. Then the next crappy movie tie in RPG game comes out and they are all saying best RPG ever. If more people embraced the hugely detailed games like some of the Bioware games we would have more quality RPG's out there as it would force companies to step it up a gear. That way we would not have shelves full of bland play one time through and seen it all RPG's that seem to dominate the market.

Re: Jedi or Sith

Don't misunderstand me here - I'm really looking forward to playing through the game as the book whetted my appetite and I like how there are references to Revelation when you speak to certain characters (was very pleased to see Anderson in the game :D) the storyline is incredibly interesting and I do like how your choices make a difference to how people react to you - even down to your history.

There was a lot of hype - maybe I shouldn't have listened to it as it does spoil stuff for me, not just games either - and I felt a bit of an anti-climax initially with the game and I have yet to be amazed by it. But as I am not even a quarter way through, I am in no way saying that the game sucks, it's crap, Bioware should all take cyanide capsules and we should all go back to simple point and click style games.

Remember that I am by no stretch of the imagination what you would call a gamer; I do not play very much (and if you lived with Steve you wouldn't either ) therefore when a game comes out which is supposedly jaw-dropping in many ways, I am not so enamoured with it immediately as someone who is an avid gamer and has higher expectations of a combat system or free-roam or dialogue or whatever.

You are, after all, talking to a girl who thought Crash Bandicoot was AMAZING ...I'm a long way behind more seasoned gamers. But at no point have I said I want all RPG's to be simple, lacking in depth and just hack and slash combat systems. Nor have I said I can't be bothered to learn anything or try. All I have said is at the moment I am not as impressed as other are.

I agree with that. But I do think Bethesda give them a run for their money.

I'm In love with the elder scrolls series

See the new game in production The Force Unleashed ;)

Id pick Sith anyday, Sith Lord just looks and sounds so much cooler. :neo:

I think that if it didn't happen in the Movies, it didn't happen at all:ninja:

And Sith is just an evil sounding anagram for "this"

The story stems much further than the movies...

Also yeah it might be an anagram for "this"... "this" owns you. :shifty:

Re: Jedi or Sith

I think I would be a Grey Jedi. In other words, I'm basically a dissent. I don't think a person should have to completely suppress their emotion and cut off all attachment. Rather I believe positive emotions and attachments like joy, love, and compassion should be a driving force behind all of one's actions. However, at the same time, those emotions are effectively controlled so that one does not make foolish decisions.

Re: Jedi or Sith

Re: Jedi or Sith

I choose the light sidMost Siths look like they have some kind of a disease.
Anyway, the most badass character in the movies is Plo Koon and his a Jedi so...
"Choose the light side you must!"

Re: Jedi or Sith

I voted for 'Jedi' since I've only ever seen one Star Wars file to date -- albeit only half of it-- and if it means I get a green lightsabre when I join then I'm sold. I don't fancy being a Sith and having my face crease up like that geezer in the robes, anywho.
