Keeping wives happy...

Well, this is frustrating! I keep getting divorced by my wives for no good reason at all; I'm 100% good, with a slant towards awesome, I give them 3x their desired income, I am NOT a bigamist, these wives were all in sequence and not at the same time. I spend time with them, take them to their favorite places, give them gifts and put them in their favorite houses.

Yet every time I select further info on them, the ring is always close to the divorce area, even though the "love" button is all the way to the opposite end. The last wench even gave me an expensive gift RIGHT before saying that her mother was right about me. Damn it.

Now the same thing is happening with Lady Gray, and I only married her a few minutes ago, she is yay close to getting a divorce. Oh, and I managed to put a bun in her oven on our wedding night, so we have a kid too. Not sure if that makes much of a difference. I'm handsome and dapper, maxed out on looks, I have no idea what the problem might be.

Anyone have a better idea to stop from getting hit with all these expensive, and ILL FOUNDED divorces?

Re: Keeping wives happy...

where do you live sometimes they dont like where you live. can effect them also if you buy them gifts and are home enough they will continue to love you but thats all the advice i can give you. cuase i never had this problem

Re: Keeping wives happy...

- Where you are living.
- What clothes you are wearing.
- What weapons you carry, especially augments that cause fear.
- Visit very often.
- Increase their income even more.
- Use love expressions and use their favourite expressions constantly.
- Give them their favourite gift or very expensive gifts and take them to their favourite location.

Hope this helps m8 :D

Re: Keeping wives happy...

if you have the wreckager weapon equipped then remove it because if I remember right it causes fear. Just like what the above poster said about weapons with augments that cause fear. This one has an evil augment on it if I remember right.

The weapons that have it are the Wreckager and the Perferator if you have those weapons equipped then trade them for something like the Daichi (gives you more beauty)

and just get a better place like Bowerstone Market the Good House is a good one gives you Animal Magnatism and Purification and Do Gooder or Castle Fairfax :P but make sure you have 5 star furnishings and always visit and make them happy that's about it really

Re: Keeping wives happy...

Thanks for the replies!

I am wearing full nobleman's outfit with the highroller coat, only I don't have anything on that would cause fear, no weapons aside from the master flintlock and master hammer, with no fear augments either.

The wife is housed in fairfax castle, and it's an area she loves (this being Lady Gray) so I always hang around with her in the library (her fav place) and do her favorite expressions without biffing them, with the mandatory expensive gifts. I don't really know what else to do. How much more income does the wench need when her desired is 90 and I am giving her 1k?

And this is on my ultra pure, wonderful awesome nice-guy hero-hero, mind you. I'm not even able to get her to stick around on my evil guy long enough to propose! Hah!

Re: Keeping wives happy...

Wow, really? I married alex, and I hardly visit. I have a low budget, and yet she hardly ever complains that we live in the starting house.

My only tip is to use the seduce expression.

You're doing better than me, then. :D I also married Alex after the related quest. I moved us into the home she already owned in Bowerstone Market and we have one daughter. I give here a decent income, the gifts she likes (flowers), and use the seduce expression (also a fave of hers) all the time, yet (like the OP) while the love button is all the way to the right, the divorce button is nearly to the left. I carry a longsword, flintlock rifle, and blunderbuss, all in steel and unaugmented at the moment. And I go and visit her every few days. Dammit! What the hell does she want from me? :D

Do you have the daichi? I am pretty sure that helps people with divorce.

Re: Keeping wives happy...

Take gifts to your wife, go to nice places with her and interact more with her, then they won't divorce you. Sometimes, if you were an evil hero in the past and you might have killed a few..(or a thousand) villages your wives, people around you won't trust/like you easily afterwards.

Make sure that you live in a house that she likes and with good furniture and make sure she has a decent budget.

Well, you're lucky, I always slap my wife and she loves me even more!

No, I don't, but I moved us into the "Nice House" in Bowerstone Market, as well as giving her flowers more often, and she seemed a lot happier. In fact, I just got back from the Hero of Will quest at the Spire and she and our daughter were waiting happily for me, despite the ten year passage of time.

Looking back, I guess I could have saved a lot of money and just started slapping her like DarkONI. :D:P

DarkONI's wife is emo.

No, she's an ex-bloodstone woman who engages in sexual intercourse for payment. (I apologize, I want to avoid harsh words). Also, let me specify that I'm the goth (definitely not an emo).
