Oh please, comparing Jack to Palpatine is an insult towards Palp.
Palpatine is the wisest, and most powerful Sith in history. I wouldn't want to say that about Jack, as you defeat him in-game, easily.
But what am I saying... I shouldn't compare game ideals with those of films. Game characters are always overpowered.

I feel a few connections: (though some are just commons in anything)
Kid gets shipped into the guild (Jedi Temple)
Force Lightning
Force Push
Maze is like Vader in the way that he served his master until he finds the boy (Luke) from that point on he is faced with conflict and fights both in each way: the kid (Luke) physichally and Jack (Palp) emotionally and mentally until he finally betrays his master (telling his plans and throwing him into the eternal death stary abyss)
Jack is like Palp in a certain sense: he offers power and salvation to Maze while Palp offers power and salvation of his (anny) loved one, they both get betrayed by their apprentice and ultimately are befeated through burns (Death Star reacter and Magma)
there are a few more subtle things too though.
