Lucas sell rights to Star Wars to Disney

I don't think we have anything to worry about. Disney did Pirates Of The Caribbean justice, so they have just as much chance to do the same with the Star Wars franchise. Best wait and see eh?

Are you being sarcastic? Because you make some dangerous assumptions there. "Made a good movie and several increasingly crappy sequels based on/inspired by a theme park ride" does not really imply "makes good sequels to beloved sci-fi trilogy and somehow deals with a massiveclusterfuckofanexpandeduniverse."

Star Wars is an overrated series anyway. The original three are good and I can see why everyone loved them when they first came out but they're nothing special for my generation. The prequels are.. Crap.

Disneys recent track record is at least better than that of LucasArts, they didnt do badly with Marvel either.

Maybe POTC was a bad example. Though the only movie of that franchise I didn't enjoy was the most recent one.
Disney also owns both Marvel and Miramax, behind the most recent Avengers movie and Pulp Fiction respectively. My only point here is that slapping a Disney badge on something doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be bad.

Dude... you make me sad. Star Wars was great. Hell, pretty sure my generation is the same as your generation, They brought out the first digital edition reissue around the time I was five? Ten? Somewhere in there, but I'd been watching and loved the original trilogy movies since I was a kid.

I probably have more nostalgia and childlike love for that series than somebody who was ten when they actually came out.

MUCH better examples. If I enjoy the new Star Wars movie as much as I did Avengers, I'd be delighted.

And I love a lot of Disney stuff. It's just that they kinda-sorta have a bad track record with sequels. Pirates of the Caribbean, I didn't enjoy any of the sequels as much as I did the first one. But then, Avengers is kind of a sequel, and it was better than any of the movies that preceded it.

Why is everyone is such a tizzy about this? Disney releases great movies. Sometimes their movies are mediocre, but almost never outright bad.

Chillax, yo.

Maybe we're going about this the wrong way. Yes, the system shamelessly turns out sequels to everything we like to try and get us to fork over more money... but, what if all the system really wanted was for us to be happy?

What if all this time, Hollywood just wanted to make more of what we like to we would like them back?

Awww I love you too. You greedy, greedy bastards. <3 :'(

But why can't they leave something that left a good mark, and a satisfying story? Whhhhy do they have to continue and make anew movie? It is not needed, only wanted.

How's that Disney's fault? Lucas hadn't made another movie... yet. But why do you think he wouldn't?

And he'd continue to churn out Star Wars-related media until the sun imploded, so... yeah, not seeing where he was any better than Disney.

Too be totally honest, I have a really hard time seeing "movie company making movies continuing in a super-popular universe" as "greedy." I mean, it IS kinda their job.

And they have a decent track record. It's not like Disney's made a whole lot of movies that were universally despised. The worst thing I can come up to say about Disney on spur of the moment is "you know, those sequels to the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie weren't that good." And there I'm talking about a movie based on a frigging amusement park ride.

So, yeah, I get steadily less annoyed by this concept.

Not about picking sides, I agree, they've (Lucas) milked the shiiiiiiiiiiit out of the Star Wars franchise, It doesnt matter what I say, they're still going to make more, I was just wondering if they actually think alot of the **** they made was because they were passionate about it and actually truely loved what hey made, or was it just for money and to expand their franchise?

So, question is now, did Disney take Star Wars because they truely want to make an awesome movie that they'll love, or just an attempt to make more money.. which they will anyway..
