Major Nelson's Gamercard was Hacked

Microsoft podcaster and Xbox spokesperson Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's Gamercard has fallen victim to a hacker (or hackers) sometime this evening. A quick check on Xbox.com reveals the account has been fixed.

Hryb's account info was altered to reflect some ... rather offensive pejoratives, and images from Kotaku reveal an odd spam statement ("ANY ACCOUNT $100 PAYPAL!!!!!!!!"). A website by the name of "LiGHTzz" has a video that proclaims responsibility for the hacking and even offers up a YouTube video advertising his services to others -- the name Yasiel Rodriguez, a resident of Miami, Fl., is registered to the domain name in question.

Well, this is big news. I thought people like him would keep their account data more safe. Well, good job to the hackers, I am sure it wasn't something very easy to do. Though the guy that hacked the account just says profanity in most of the video.

I love things like that. They hack major (well, maybe not like the cia or anything, but you get the picture) things and just do harmless things. I don't love the spam or profanity, but it's still cool.

Sucks for him, props to the Hackers for having the skill to do that, but I am with the anti-hacker group on this occasion.

Hackers suck. Well, not the kind of hackers who are paid to find bugs and flaws in software, scripts, etc. but script kiddies who sit in their basement all day, jacking off to badger porn. Frickin' can't stand hackers.

Also: This is exactly what happens when you have your pet's name, mother's maiden name, current surname as your password.

I don't approve of what they did, but you have to give them some credit, I mean it couldn't have been easy to hack his account.
