Marriage confusion..

Ok, So I went on a date with this one person, it was all fine and dandy since I bought a wedding ring for the male and whatnot, but when I do I cannot propose to him..​

But when I grab his hand and lead him to a house and buy it, it still doesn't work.. I need help because this is really bothering me and I wish someone could help me figure this out..​

I tried buying acouple more rings and it doesn't help any, and I tried to rebuy houses without holding his hand AND holding his hand. But nothing seems to work..​

Could someone tell me what is happening..? If it's a glitch then i don't know what to do..​

Does he have a red heart above his head? Sometimes they "love" you but they don't want to marry you and you have to influence them more for the option to marry them to come up.
